And I'm saying that why you think it'd be illogical is rediculous. If the universe itself was somehow sentient, it would have complete conteol over itself, which would be omnipotence, including all of the paradoxes that exist. You're trying to say that these paradoxes make omnipotence impossible, yet what i'm sayong is that you don't know nearly enoug about omnipotence to be making such claims.

Dude, reread what you type. You're saying precisely what I'm saying you're saying. Do you seriously not see that?

"You made it sound like I was trying to prove an omnipotent being couldn't exist because of these paradoxes."

and then

"But the paradoxes are still there and they prove that an omnipotent force couldn't exist."
User avatar #480 - sixfishsticks (01/14/2014) [-]
It doesn't matter what way i describe it or word it.
Just so we're on the same on what a paradox is in relation to our conversation:
-(Logic) a self-contradictory proposition, such as I always tell lies
-a person or thing exhibiting apparently contradictory characteristics
-a self-contradictory and false proposition.
-a person, thing, or situation, exhibiting an apparently contradictory nature.

If you don't like that a omnipotent being would be a paradox fine you can choose to believe and think whatever you want but that's cool.

And to clearly what we're or i am talking about. I don't think this proves god cannot be real it's proving that nothing can be omnipotent because its illogical. You can still believe whatever you want but if you claim it's omnipotent then you're being illogical.

To think of a paradox and, in some cases, the answer is one thing. But to think of one type of paradox does not destroy an entire idea, just as not thinking of a paradox doesn't destroy an idea. The point I am making was that we don't know everything and can think of everything. I cannot think of an answer, someone else may be able to, either way I won't base my entire faith around one paradox on which there may be an answer to.

First, explain why God has the power to do anything He wants. And If the Bible agreed with A, B and C, how would, for example, Adam and Eve commit sin? This is, of course, keeping in mind the fact that the Bible was written by many different people at many different times.

About the effects on people - yes, it's much of what you said, but it's also a mindset involving hope and motivation to improve oneself. For instance, a friend of mine had a hard home life with divorced parents and a borderline abusing dad, and to top it all off, his best friend died in a car crash. After a few months of sulking depression, he dove headfirst into Christianity, and it's as though he transformed: he's one of the cheeriest people I know, not to mention one of the kindest and respectful. Is that transformation possible without Christianity? Maybe, but - of course - it takes a lot. I'm sure each of the individual characteristics is possible without it, but I still feel that Christianity is unique in the way and the measure to which it touches people. And if that's what it can do, then hell - I want to be a part of that regardless.

As for Noah's Ark, here's an article on it: beforeitsnews.com/christian-news/2012/04/shocking-discovery-noahs-ark-found-2044569.html
tl;dr, it was found in Turkey at an altitude of 6,300 ft. It's about 4,000 years old (or so, this particular article doesn't say). The wood has long since been petrified, and the rib structures are evident in the stone. Large rocks with holes, which were used as anchors in ancient days, were found on the site. Furthermore, it matches biblical descriptions - 300 cubits long, an average of 50 cubits wide, and tiered structure. Small metal rivets have been found on site. I have seen another, more detailed article, but I can't seem to find it.

and Jericho - you're right, all we know is that the walls fell and the city was razed.

To clarify, I don't mean to say these are proof. They're correlations.

Alright let me begin with explaining my position. I don't believe there is a god I'm not saying that there is no god's I'm saying there could be but there is no substantial evidence to say there is. So here my take on this god's power issue:

If there was a god that created this universe and everything in it. He would have to be all powerful and all knowing. It doesn't make logical sense to have a god that is kinda powerful and kinda knows everything and if that was true why would it be a god then. So that's why i say he has the power do whatever he wants. If you don't believe he has the power then so be it.

effects on people:
Yes some people have had hard lives and turn to religion to gain support. But when it comes down to it its still just the support of nice people around him. If he convinced himself that his friend is in heaven and that his abusive father would one day pay for his sins. Then that cool too but it doesn't mean that what he believes is true. And he could of done it without religion and yes i would of been hard.

Your turkey ark even has many christian doubt its real. You should check more than www.truthbeknown.com/noah.html

news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2010/04/100428-noahs-ark-found-in-turkey-science-religion-culture/
Also even if this ark was real there is no i repeat no evidence of world or even localized flood on this scale ever occurring.

Oh shit man I totally forgot about you

Well, my impressions of tes: online beta:

First of all, the game starts badly, with a character creation screen entirelly in the dark, wich makes the creation a pain in the ass. That's just a minor negativity though, but the intro quest isn't as astonishing as you'd expect it to be. You're in Coldharbor, the dominion of the daedric prince of domination and enslavement, but it reminds more of a dark dwarven ruin with not-so-breathtaking machines. A great plus however is the very good framerate considering how many people play at the same time. Anyway, once you're done with the intro, you start by having to recruit at least one of three npcs that a questgiver recomends you, and that's where you can fuck up pretty much if you don't take them all, because they save you from alot of pain in the ass later in the game, however, before you have any idea about that, you have to definetly decide how many you'll recruit. That brings me to another terrible minus for the game - the quests are basically "talk to this person - go here - do this - talk to person back", and that ultimately leads to the game being all about pressing e. Although, the areas are very interesting, and that partly makes up for the above mentioned, the game still gets repetitive after a while of playing. Now to get to the better parts - the actual gameplay. Despite everyone ranting, not only is the framerate great, but also the graphics are practically perfect. Of course, they're not as good as in skyrim, but it's an MMO, so you must consider the huge ping from all the people playing. Especially the towns showed exactlly what I expected Hammerfell and Orsinium to look like. Then, there's the combat. Although the enemies seem like they have rubber-spines, the abilities of the player character are diverse, and the actual fighting looks very clean and about what you'd expect from an leveling-based RPG (note I never played WoW, so I might not be..

No worries bro I'm still out of town working hopefully ill be home around the end of the week. Hopefully they will fix those details that caused problems. and I'm thinking that when the actual game launches the intro mission will be different and hopefully the quests get less repetitive.

Also thanks for the update bud

...very competent to judge about this part of the game)
When it comes to the story, well, so far as I got, the plot was very promising. What got me excited was to hear that I'd see my favorite city again - Daggerfall (although that depends on your race), and the very concept of struggling against the evilest of the daedric princes makes my penis hard.

Under the line, my impression is that this is a more-less quality game, but that bethesda made a mistake by trying to turn tes into an MMO, essentially removing the characteristics of the former installements, most notably the sandbox.
