I think it was the click to move that turned me off. I played like 10 min of the Fallout1. The graffix are fine because I cant see anyfuckinway, but... again no excuse, I think I need a history lesson

You just hit the nail on my head directly. I started with fallout 3. I know about the previous games, But I am one lazy mother fucker, and am willfully ignorant of the backstory that I crave. I have no good excuse for why I do not play the older games.. at a complete loss here.

Could be fear. Some people seem to forget that many teens to young adults completed games like the first Fallout easily without much (well, besides the whole RTFM thing) hassle.

Or graphics-whoring. But personally I really like that semi-CG look of 90's-era PC games. So lovable.

And since fallout 3 and fallout NV are really similar in gameplay. it's just referred to as "Fallout"

It's just laziness. Borderline willful ignorance, but I'm pretty sure most people who played Fallout 3 are at least aware there were two games before it.
