- If a force invades another country, and it fails to conquer it…
sneaky american dad writing
Except it wasn't an attempt to "conquer".
What if the invaders take a little piece of the country, but are repelled from the rest.
Is that a win, loss or tie?
Well, I'm sure Vietnam had some resource the U.S. wanted pretty bad, but I don't think they were there to plant a flag. The claim of the U.S. reasons for going there would have been to stop the spread of communism (which I think is a little bit of BS). A win for the U.S. would have been stopping communism in the country.
This was back in the 60's. America was really different back then, Vietnam changed the US. South Korea and South Vietnam had no resource we wanted, except for allies in a potential war against China and/or the USSR.
Back then we had a doctrine in place to halt the spread of Communism
, which we did in Korea and tried to do in Vietnam. Unfortunately politicians tried to fight the war in Vietnam
It wasn't the military's fault, it was the policy makers who told the military what they couldn't do in Vietnam
and thus we got our ass kicked.
Eh...we sort of did have resource interests in there, but I wouldn't say it as the cause of Vietnam. Not at all.
We weren't attempting to conquer Vietnam, I must say. Other than that, you're correct.
We didnt fail, the media lied to the american public making it seema lot worse than it was. In reality we were wiping the floor with the VC. Once the american people stopped supporting the war (due to the lies from the media) the politicians were forced to bring everybody home for fear of not being re-elected.

- Am i the only one who actually liked Shane?
Time gone by
Shane's not a likable person, but I think that makes him a great character to watch.
No. I thought he was pretty cool. A dick, but still a cool character to have in the show.
he was okay at first, i liked his hard ass mentality, his kill em all attitude. otherwise he was a dick.
Shane is a huge dick in the comics though
he died before they found Hershel's farm when they were still camping in the woods
He and Rick went out to hunt and he decided he was going to get rid of Rick
and Carl was the one to shoot him in the head
I do have to agree with tanders though, at least he was the one to wake up everyone on the farm to the real life dangers they were still in.
We all hated him, but couldn't deny he had his shit figured out. Opening that barn and convincing Hershel that walkers weren't people seriously helped the group.
Agree! i liked him because of his guts. He had the courage to do what had to be done. Rick is a pussy in comparison.
