Well, you might want to watch some debates about veganism. The meat eaters never bring up health benefits in an honest debate.

I understand a vegan diet it healthy for basic living, but if someone exercises a lot or does a lot of manual labor, they need high amounts of protein. And before you start spouting nonsense about almonds or the like, no, plants cannot have anywhere near as much protein as meat can.

I believe you are overestimating the human need for protein. I've seen no evidence that you need animal protein when you train. Could you present it to me?
You can get all essential amino acids from plants. Protein is made of amino acids. So I don't really see your point.
Neither have I never heard anyone use the protein argument in a serious debate. You will have to cite some sources.

I need plants. Plants have carbon. Coal has carbon. I'll eat coal.
Protein is what the body uses to strengthen or repair cartilage, bones, blood, and the like. I'm not sure how much iron a plant has, but that is needed, too. Meat is an excellent source of all of these, and if you're just vegan for the health benefits, go with lean meats. Things like seafood are an excellent choice.
I did not read much of this, but I am told the USDA is a pretty citable source for this kind of thing.
