Dude, I would give anything just to be the middle pic. I'm on my own fitness journey currently, and I'm about 6 months in. If you don't mind, I'm going to bombard you with questions:

What was the difference in time between the middle pic and your first pic?
What routine did you use?
Did you ever change your diet (eat this to cut, eat this bulk), or did you just maintain a healthy steady diet?
What were your stats at these points?
What exercises did you do to get that sick ab definition/shape?

I'm really frustrated with where I am right now. I feel like I've plateaued and can't move farther. I'm going to keep pushing, but tips would be nice.

All good man and let's see, middle and first pic took about 10 months, dieting was off and on could have been better for that period of time, but overall pretty steady.
Routine was one I made based on multiple different sources of routines, found what fit best for me and stuck with it, if you want a good routine go to the bb.com forums and search beginner routines.
After a few months the diet got strict and I gave myself a cheat meal every two weeks, besides that it was clean cut eating on a slow cut, just changed that calories and some macros to adjust to losing weight.
As for abs I just did crunches on a decline, sometimes with weight, hanging leg raises, russian twists, dragon flags, etc. I only trained them 3x a week and they really varied on exercises. For abs the main thing is to eat right and maintain fat loss, they will show with time, the best part is when you see them for a the first time and really take notice of their definition.
My best advice is don't stop, do your research, and never be afraid to ask questions. Give yourself small goals that can be weekly as well s some longer goals that might be monthly with a really long term one in mind. Take progress pics, use a workout journal to make sure there is progress. As well, make sure you are eating a good amount, most people eat and assume it is enough when they are actually eating a lot less than needed. 2,500-3,000 cals of healthy is a hell of a lot different than 3,000 cals of junk food. Find motivation, I honestly watch a lot of bodybuilding videos on youtube. Just type in 'bodybuilding motivational videos' they have guy and girl videos that really pump you up before workouts. And I think the biggest advice of all is to be consistent. I wokeup one day and said I was tired of being fat. From there on out I trained, ate, and slept around making myself a better person. Sure there are sacrifices, but your confidence, health, and general well being are worth the sacrifices in the long run. Good luck man, keep up the training, you got this. And don't be afraid to ask more questions.

i really wish someone would post a similar change in a woman. See I'm a woman who's currently somewhere in between your first and second photo, but i'd really like to get more fit and i'm working on it, but just not entirely sure how to reach my goal yet. Btw your transition looks amazing and surprised me because i thought only chunkier men could get to your third picture because they had more meat to work with so thankyou for showing your transition!

Best advice is do this, keep progress, journals, pictures, etc. Do research on various websites, and stick to the basics. In the beginning hit the gym 3-4 times a week and split it so you hit your whole body. The biggest thing is to keep your diet on point, you cannot outrun a bad diet, go on websites to calculate basic caloric needs like IIFYM. This can get you base calories you need to lose weight, very general, but it works in the beginning. From there use something like MyFitnessPal to create a meal plan based around calories and how much of each macro you will need (fats, carbs, proteins). Keep a good ratio of each and make sure you log your weight about once a week to adjust calories and macros. You'll see the results in no time!

Fat tissue doesn't turn into muscle tissue, that's a myth. The body can lose or gain either.

Fat tissue gets used up as energy. Muscle requires protein to repair. You eat food, you gain half the weight since muscle uses the protein while your body is using fat as well.

Yes. Fat is energy, while protein is used to help repair and build muscle. People suggest that fat is just unused muscle which isnt true. You lose the fat by exercise and/or diet and gain muscle underneath. Its why people can be increadibly strong all the while being having alot of fat on them as well.
