It restricts private property, power money gives you and how much money you're allowed to earn. Obviously it all ties together so that the money is more spread around and isn't owned by ~2% of the population.

Private property is what gave rise to capitalism, destroying it is a must if we want to advance society.
Socialism isn't really yet the time where money (or better yet "wealth") is spread around. Actually, one of it's core ideas is what you make, how much you output, is how much you deserve to get. Capitalism restricts this. Lets say you make $300 dollars worth of shoes in a day and you only get payed $50. What is this other than one of the main features of capitalism? In order to be competitive in a capitalist market, you have to "exploit" your workers so you can help grow the business. You have to pay to make your item valuable
aka get it made nice and properly with good machines
and then you have to get it out there and sell it, and then you also have to have some left over for yourself so you can live as well. That's just how it works, and it makes sense. Socialism wants to get rid of any exploitation of the worker and let them take as much as they deserve.
this is from my ok understanding of socialism and bad understanding of how capital works, but I'm working on that

Not having the employees exploited (paid properly) and making the tax high so that more money goes to public healthcare means that the money is more evenly divided between everybody compared to when the factory owner gets almost everything because his employees can't afford to not work for minimum wage. Where I live, the tax % gets higher the more money you earn, making it pay off better to earn lower and worse to earn more, which is the opposite of Capitalism.

Socialism doesn't mean welfare state, the core idea of socialism is "workers own the means of production", every other idea grouped with it is just different forms of socialist theory. In socialism, there isn't one set wage, or at least in the kind of socialism I like
there are many different forms of socialism, this is just the idea of it developing over time
. Like I said, how much you make, your output, is how much you get.

It depends on what you're aiming for. If you want the people to have full freedom in the market and pay little taxes with the saying "Every person for themselves", you get capitalism. The issue with it is that if your family isn't well off, you're gonna have a very hard time getting somewhere yourself. Socialism restricts very much, perhaps too much, which is why I prefer social-liberalism.

And so does the belief that a state is needed to achieve socialism.
Something as broad as the theory of capital or the theory of socialism isn't really saying much, there's lot of ideas about how each should be implemented and that of course affects how each system works.
