Well, from what I remember of my art class last year, substance is literally just stuff taking up space on a canvas. There is more stuff on the other painting.

Of course, but I say what art is and isn't is of course dependent on the individual. You see, I'd probably say it's art, even if it is just something you made in paint in 5 minutes. But it has no value to me, it represents nothing to me, there's no message behind it to me. So I don't think it's good art.

I'm not a fan of most modern art myself. I just don't understand it. Hell, I'm not even sure that there is anything there to understand. But I'm sure there are people who actually do understand it and can appreciate the art and be moved by it. Art has different values to everyone.

My mother has a masters degree in art and art history, and i asked her why modern art was so popular, and her only respons was "its different", and when i countered with saying that not all different things are good, she said "you just dont understand", as i examplified how a dude sold a detached urinal with his name on it as "art"

Yeah, musical arguments are almost always shit. It boils down to personal opinion, which honestly i do not mind. I do not care about if people listen to toplist, i care if they have the audacity to claim it is better than stuff written by argubly the best minds since the start of civilization

You are confusing art and aesthetics. Simplism can be aesthetically pleasing, but it is not art. Art requires effort, time, skill, and an emotional/political connection. I would not call that pic "art", although it is nice decoration.

#411538 - shibe (08/16/2015) [-]
Please, lets not argue about what constitutes what art is and isn't, I've already had one with this board and I refuse to do that again, just because I don't think it leads to anywhere.

It's fine what you think art is, I just simply disagree.

>Have opinion that is against normies

I do not give a shit if people listen to it. It is their choice. But i feel personally fucking offended when they say it is objectivly better than "old man music".

It is like how modern art is sold for millions. That is fucking retarded

But yes, perhaps it is pretentious, but i am not pretending. I actually am that retarded ;)
#411532 - shibe (08/16/2015) [-]
No, it's just the way you present your "argument" even though i hate arguing about fucking musical opinions

Maybe some people prefer modern art to classical art? I sure do, I love the simplicity. Just because you think it has less value than other art doesn't mean everyone should and will ever think the same.

see this shit, i love it, i don't care what you say

when someone showers: don't want to smell like shit, or ill be laughed at

someone with no feeling would just be walking nude not giving a fuck
