You clearly didnt hear about the pregnant woman who was kicked in the stomach at a protest or the man who was killed at the g20 demonstration, and in london a high percentage of police ive seen are un helpful arseholes

Yeah... That pregnant woman was causing trouble and obstructing the police officers job. It was night, she was wearing a lot of clothes and he didn't kick her, he pushed her with his foot.
I hate it when I push somebody or something with my foot and someone says "don't kick that/him", it isn't a kick.
He didn't know she was pregnant, and she didn't act like a pregnant woman. If you are pregnant you shouldn't be out causing trouble.

The fact that you can't even reach the magic number three for giving examples should prove that poor policing in the UK is rare

i hate america along with a few mates but we aint going to yell about it, i dont hate america more than i hate hot weather or hate people that make tea by putting the water in first. and im sure one at a time they are nice enough. though sometimes i do consider the space between canada and mexico to be open water. like when america made pizza a serving of vegetables in school.

#222 - sanguinesolitude (08/07/2013) [-]
well it does have vegetables in it. better than french fries.
#298 - restfullwicked (08/08/2013) [-]
but it was based on the fact it has tomato on it so even if it was a good idea it would make it a fruit anyway.
User avatar
#305 - sanguinesolitude (08/08/2013) [-]
i mean tomato may technically be a fruit, but its pretty much a vegetable. Also fruits arent worse for you than vegetables and the requirement is for a serving of fruits or vegetables. Either way it works.
#314 - restfullwicked (08/08/2013) [-]
im just saying that no other country would ever even be able to do that. you tried to do that in the UK and the proposal would be thrown at you and you would be laughed out of the house
User avatar
#315 - sanguinesolitude (08/08/2013) [-]
thats fair, and it isnt because we the people want that to be a vegetable, its because selling food to schools is big business and they have lobbies that allow them to do it.
#316 - restfullwicked (08/08/2013) [-]
even so. i just think that america does its own thing, and while thats fine, it rarely does what is sensible. it seems like a ploy because the found out that kids weren't eating any fruits so they went "pizza has some stuff on it. pizza is a vegetable now. problem solved"
User avatar
#317 - sanguinesolitude (08/08/2013) [-]
We are run by corporations, so I think it realistically went more along the lines of "we cant sell enough pizza to kids because they are supposed to be eating vegetables, lets lobby to have pizza classified as a vegetable so we can sell it to the children"
#318 - restfullwicked (08/08/2013) [-]
and that right there is my problem with america. in england, most of our laws are there to protect the customers. in the us it seems like you make laws to allow businesses to do whatever they like.

yep and its getting worse. It has passed the point where the people have much say in anything, our politicians are bought and paid for by corporations and the entrance cost and unpleasant circumstances make it so the decent people avoid politics.

no way to run a country. as i said, hate is a strong word, and i would never wish harm on anyone because of where they were born. but it can only end badly for everyone. america caused a global recession. other countries fucked up too and we were one of the worst but it started in the states. and it just pisses me off that the loudest and most fucking obnoxious americans act like the sun shines out the collective arsehole of the US. though i do understand that they are the minority, just so happens that the small group is the loudest.

I hate the government here, but its gotten really bad and both parties are nearly identical, so nothing ever changes. The depressing thing is I have no idea what the solution is. I mean vote for the good guys in theory, but they both serve the same mysterious financial backers.

Its a good country, but money has been a corrosive influence in politics.
#322 - restfullwicked (08/08/2013) [-]
first thing is to find the lies. they are easy. start from the beginning, the founding fathers left england because they thought were were too liberal when it came to the bibles law. the whole religious freedom is a load of bollocks.
after that you have 2 choices. you can find the like minded people and remind the government that the people are their bosses and if they dont start making changes you will find someone who does. the other option is to get directly involved in politics. its bullshit that anyone can become the president but there is a fair amount that people can do.

#323 - sanguinesolitude (08/08/2013) [-]
the lies are obvious, but there is no repercussion for being caught in a lie. We only have two viable parties, and they are 95% the same. sure they disagree on the little things like gay marriage and aborition, but their policy decisions are nearly identitcal. The corporations that own our media are the same that buy the elections.
#324 - restfullwicked (08/08/2013) [-]
like i said. if you find like minded people (because im fairly sure that there are alot of them) and start demanding change, one of two things will happen, either the government tries to pander and save face by actually doing something, or you prove that america is actually a corrupt dictatorship and the whole nation along with the rest of the world knows it. the main problem is that people dont know how much power they actually have. im not saying grab the molotovs and start burning, but a show of numbers with one motive is more than enough.
User avatar
#325 - sanguinesolitude (08/08/2013) [-]
sounds great in theory, in practice the media has so divided the two parties there is no common ground, even though nearly all policy is identical.
#326 - restfullwicked (08/08/2013) [-]
i know its possible to force change. america has done it before. UK too for that matter. there is a lot that can be done by those with the will to see it through.
User avatar
#327 - sanguinesolitude (08/08/2013) [-]
short of bloodshed and widespread marching I dont see anything happening anytime soon. As long as media keeps democrats and republicans fighting eachother we dont have time to work together to purge the evil from the system.

I do feel there is a change coming eventually, but it will probably take another 10 years of gridlock before we get fed up with the system enough to do something.

+1ed for good conversation
#328 - restfullwicked (08/08/2013) [-]
thank you kindly stranger. i know it must be hard. but at least there is someone that is willing to admit that america has problem rather than thumb people into submission for saying america may need improvement.
