| Son, at no point did I say that. In fact, if you go back and look at it, you'd see that I was AGREEING WITH YOU that we probably could ban knives and blunt objects in addition to automatic and concealable weapons. You just chose to read it as an attack on your glorious 'Murica because that's what neanderthals do when they don't understand something: they get defensive and violent. It's OK, you can't help that you were raised to believe that anything that disagrees with you needs to be shot and pissed on while you salute the stars and stripes as you ravage a bald eagle anally, I get it. Welcome to the internet, with your attitude you're going to get angry a lot, sweetheart. I didn't choose to read it any way. Maybe you could write in full sentences next time. All you wrote was "we probably could" as if that means anything. Look at my comment history, I'm never angry at anything. Hell, I'm not angry now. It's more a feeling of pity that you clearly lack any education that the internet didn't give you. Additionally, how is referring to Americans as "sheep afraid of anything that moves" to be taken as anything other than an insult? What the fuck do you even mean, that you could ban knives and blunt objects? How would you cook anything without knives? Also, a blunt object is anything solid without an edge, while a knife covers most things with edges. Are you saying you want to ban physical constructs that aren't padded or soft? That seems very Canadian of you. "Everything I've said has been either factually wrong or incredibly stupid. I know, I'll call him mad 3 times. That'll show him." | ||

windlordvaati (01/13/2016) [-] Gotta hand it to him, he's probably the greatest man who's ever been president. I've never seen a better human being than Carter. He's fucking destroyed that fucking African hookworm, and good on him. Those poor sods have to die of starvation and disease. They don't need skin parasites to. I don't know about the greatest, but he's certainly led an impressive life. Unfortunately, he wasn't as good a president as he was a nuclear engineer and philanthropist. | ||

| hard sci fi just feels like wasted potential to me same as low-magic fantasy or wahtever it is it rings in my mind as a failure to commit and exploit the genre for the very best it can offer It's called low-fantasy, not just low-magic, because it probably features fewer fictional races and other stuff like that other than just magic. That's just your appetite. Personally, I don't like everything being taken to ridiculous extremes. I like things to stay more grounded, but with enough different elements to keep it different from realistic fiction. That's why my favorite futuristic franchise is Halo, my favorite fantasy-esque franchise is A Song of Ice and Fire, and my favorite superhero is (more recent era) Batman. I don't care much for magic or exaggerated technologies, so I stick with the more grounded franchises. To clarify about the Batman point, Batman comics are only moderately less ridiculous than other superhero comics, but his recent extended media has been considerably less goofy. I do like comics in general, though, with the exception of a handful of DC characters and just about all of Marvel for the last 3 years. | ||

| Still I remind you I say all of this from Halo 2 as perspective But yeah the whole idea of taking sci fi and then applying realworld limiters to it feels like a waste It feels like you're fighting against yourself and at that point why be sci fi at all Halo is hard sci-fi. It avoid the more fantastical elements, while still shooting for grand technology and massive scale, just within a more possible scope. Soft sci-fi pertains less to science fact and scientific explanation, and more to extremely advanced and unexplained tech. hard sci fi just feels like wasted potential to me same as low-magic fantasy or wahtever it is it rings in my mind as a failure to commit and exploit the genre for the very best it can offer It's called low-fantasy, not just low-magic, because it probably features fewer fictional races and other stuff like that other than just magic. | Well not necessarily Warframe as an example is a shooter also But it plays to a very different feel to the halos or the codblopses It's not militaristic at all, infact the game's only faction resembling a military is one of your biggest enemies, you playing in a sort of space-shogunate of magically empowered gun-toting ninjas who can do all kinds of crazy parkour and flips and wall-running and wearing long flow yscarves and swinging things like giant hammers to japanomans swords to a hand-axe with a shotgun attached to it all the while being able to do shit like fling fireballs or call down a cannon-barrage of giant water-droplets or summon the souls of vanquished enemies to fight for you as ghostly thralls it's faster and more frantic than even the halo games I'd say And you can have a space dog that can do things like fetch items or pin down key enemies or howl and scare them away I'd be far more into the darksouls and bloodborne games if they had a space filter on them too Im a sucker for sci fi, which is what makes halo such a disappointment to me, because its one of the few things where a space filter fails to keep me interested, it just has that dull "trudge along here and blap blap waves of enemies with unsatsfying guns" feel to it, despite warframe doing the same exact thing, it manages to have a different energy about it idk I feel like the halo games take the most boring elements of that military shooter genre and try to work with that, instead of some far better arrangement of it's elements Imagine if, for instance, the mjolnir suit felt somewhat like the power armor in fallout 4, or like an ultramarine in that Space Marine game Like you could stomp around with heft and barge people over and your guns didnt go brakkabrakka they when KATHOOM KATHOOM or something The weapon sounds have gotten a lot meaner in more recent Halo games, and Spartan abilities like thruster packs and shoulder charges were added to Mjolnir. It seems like what you like are some of the more ridiculous aspects of sci-fi (I don't mean it as a criticism, I just don't know how else to describe it) whereas Halo is definitely more hard sci-fi, with very real limitations on everything. It also seems like you prefer bulkier and weightier power armor, but I like the mobility and grace that Mjolnir permits. Also, Halo feels nothing whatsoever like CoD. Halo has power weapons, vehicles, totally different movement, completely different damage tables, and very disparate weapons. CoD's only game changers as far as power goes are score streaks. Still I remind you I say all of this from Halo 2 as perspective But yeah the whole idea of taking sci fi and then applying realworld limiters to it feels like a waste It feels like you're fighting against yourself and at that point why be sci fi at all Halo is hard sci-fi. | I'll talk shit about them all I want I just find that whole -genre_ more or less dull really even putting a space filter on it, which usually gets me on board, just didn't do the trick I just can't be having with that militaristic shooter game theyre all dull to me Hey, if you don't like shooters, you don't like shooters. Although I am a bit confused by your qualifier of "militaristic." Aren't shooters by nature military related, except for Splatoon? Anyway, people keep telling me about how great Bloodborne and Dark Souls are, but I don't care for them because I don't like Japanese media in general (their stories get a little out there) and because I didn't like their style. They are critically acclaimed games, but not my thing. I think it's excessive to say liking one of the biggest juggernauts of the video game world makes you insane, though. Halo 5 made $400 million in a week despite being exclusive to Xbox One, which is the less popular console this gen. I'd say a good number of people like the franchise. Similarly, as much as I want to hate CoD, the gunplay just feels too goddamn good. I don't want to give them my money, because Activision's pretty awful, but the games are fun. Did anyone get you a designated pissing sink for Christmas?
Holy **** , did you really archieve your profile in one month? Are you online 24/7 or how is this possible?
Huh? I don't know what you mean by that. If it has something to do with levels or thumbs, I mostly comment on posts with around 100 thumbs that will probably reach the front page, so I have several comments with hundreds of thumbs.
I was just curious. You archieved in 1 month what I did in 5 years
(11/29/2015) [-] Hello, and welcome to Funnyjunk! I'm yugiohkris, one of the site's mods(I swear I'm not a bot). Thanks for making an account at funnyjunk, please feel free to post content, comments, or just hang around the boards. If you have any questions please ask me or ask here: /askamod/
Holy **** a mod. I actually had an account a few years ago, and I've been lurking for a long time, so I think I generally get everything. Never been on the boards, though.
Sweet, thanks. What boards are actually on here? I might check them out.
(11/29/2015) [-] I don't know I don't go on the boards very often, but you can still look through all of them.
