| Huh. I hadn't seen that one as a webm yet, only as a youtube video. By the way, would Geralt of meowia be a School of the Cat Witcher? Indeed, It's what Kootra likes to call Geralt of Rivia in his Witcher playthroughs. That type of bravery is certainly better than bravery that takes a sedan to someone else's chest. | ||

| #2 - Why is metal such a huge thing in the Scandinavian countries? … [+] (45 new replies) | 01/09/2016 on black metal still superior... | +100 |
| Atleast in Sweden it isn't as big that you might think, Swerden mostly just listens to the stuff America listens to. I would recommend reseaching the Norwegian black metal scene, where black metal stems from. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Early_Norwegian_black_metal_scene know it facts and myths, its quite entertaining inb4 "wikipedia isnt a reliable source"-fag not a reliable source fag joking aside that was kind of interesting but I personally prefer Folk Metal from the Scandinavian countries, like Korpiklaani and Finntroll, none the less pretty intresting, might check out the bands when get the itch for something different #81 -
subspacessparta (01/10/2016) [-] The story about Per Ohlin, the vocalist in the band Mayhem is really interesting imo. Here's a imgur album about him which describes his life pretty well. pic related, Per Ohlin. imgur.com/gallery/NPNV1 #82 -
eplejuice (01/10/2016) [-] ye he is definitely an interesting guy. I feel sorry for him tho, his depression and suicide was exploited by euronymous quote from wikipedia Necrobutcher recalls how Euronymous told him of the suicide: Øystein called me up the next day ... and says, "Dead has done something really cool! He killed himself". I thought, have you lost it? What do you mean cool? He says, "Relax, I have photos of everything". I was in shock and grief. He was just thinking how to exploit it. So I told him, "OK. Don't even fucking call me before you destroy those pictures". Yeah, it's a tragic story. people belive he suffered of Cotard Delusion which basically is where you think you are dead or parts of your body are dead/ dying. #26 -
anon (01/09/2016) [-] Finnish "brutality" stems from isolation in a cold climate, just like northern Sweden and Norway. Helsinki, for example, is just as non-metal as the other majorly populated areas in Scandinavia. #27 -
anon (01/09/2016) [-] It's also worth to note that Nordic people that live up north in isolation are the equivalent of American rednecks. So yeah, they're about as badass as a fat American rancher with a gun collection. They themselves think they're cool and badass, but everyone else just looks down on them. yeah but the difference being , a redneck makes country music , and that shit is gay as fuck. Black metal may be autsitic , but at least it's not gay. #52 -
anon (01/09/2016) [-] No I've noticed rednecks either are into country or metal (or rock and roll really that whole gamut) Sorry everything cant livd up to your justin bieber standard, but there is no bad music, only different tastes. did I say black metal is bad? something being autistic doesn't render it bad. how about you stop making assumptions for a second and think about why one could possibly have a different opinion than you. Lol, k, get real 'May be' what the fuck does that infer? Saying may be autistic is derogatory, 'but at least its not'. Fuck yourself, seriously cause youd have to be a true aspie to not see your own thought process. Its global faggot day on fj apparently. #62 -

internetexplain (01/09/2016) [-] **internetexplain used "*roll picture*"** **internetexplain rolled image** Well, you should start donating blood then, you're gonna make millions. Black metal started in my country, but as a musician i rarely meet people who are really into metal. It's like any other country really. (I asumme that you're from Norway). Actually, there were several Proto-Black Metal acts much earlier than in Norway. UK (Venom), Sweden (Bathory), Japan (Sabbat, White Hell...) nearly all the good old school black metal comes from norway, there's some good death metal and power metal from sweden Because metal music in general stands for rebellion/non-comformity/against the system type of mindset, which coupled with the Scandinavians' interest for their Norse culture and a stand against the imposed Christian church, well, that's what you get. Of course, that's only part of the roots of black metal, a lot of the rest of the approach stems from nihilistic and/or misanthropic mentalities. But even earlier before Scandinavian Black Metal, there was a big wave of Scandinavian Heavy Metal bands. Not that prominent, however. Most Scandinavian acts took the torch, sort of speak, from Brit bands that started the "extreme metal" trend, like Venom Let's face it, except for Denmark, the rest of the Scandinavian (and Finland) countries are known for bands such as Celtic Frost, Mayhem, Daktrthrone, Emperor, etc. Well, it depends from which view you see it. Of course Scandinavian Countries are mostly know because of Black Metal bands, but if you want to talk about European Heavy Metal, Thrash, Speed, you have bands such as Heavy Load, Artillery, Europe, Torch, Hexenhaus, mighty Mercyful Fate & King Diamond (which was labeled in the early 80s as Black Metal. First concept of Black Metal was just about Satanism.), Oz, Mindless Sinner, Gotham City, Pretty Maids, Agony... and the list goes on and on... P.S. Aren't Celtic Frost from Switzerland? I was talking about Scandinavian metal, mostly. Of course there's a shitload of European metal (which, personally, I find more attractive than US metal bands, especially after the 2000s) like Kreator, Testament and whatnot However, I don't think anyone can't deny that early black/death metal bands from Northern Europe were heavily influenced by Brit (and some American) bands. That's what I was trying to get across. From my point of view, they took some of the core concepts and turned it up to 120%, while distilling some elements. Sorry, we're I meant "European Heavy Metal, Thrash Speed etc", I meant Scandinavian. All of the bands mentioned above are mostly from Sweden. >Implying Dimmu Borgir were relevant Don't get me wrong, I love the shit out of Dimmu up until Abrahadabra - but let's face it, their only impact was making pseudo-black metal commercial and/or accessible I'd say it's because of how important scandinavian countries have been to black and death metal. Norway is renowned to be the birthplace of black metal, and alot of influential figures to the black metal scene came from Norway. We've also got some pretty big death metal bands, and the same goes for Sweden and Finland. Sweden (along with the UK), were the fathers of melodic death metal, and along with Finland, are the biggest in the subgenre. #53 -
marshwulff (01/09/2016) [-] To be fair Volbeat is also one of, if not the biggest metal band in Scandinavia atm. But we have a lot of very good metal here. Mnemic, Svartsot, Huldre, Artillery, Mercyful Fate only to name a few. yea..but we just aint good at producin it..we got lucky with DML and Kim Larsen.. #17 -
holmborn (01/09/2016) [-] thats a very narrow view. We have a lot more bands that produce rock and metal. They are just not as widely known. Volbeat, like you mentioned is danish, Metallica's drummer is danish just to name a few. making music is a tough job, and its even tougher to make money from it. the toughest part is getting noticed. Not just the birth of black metal, they birthed the concept of the darker tones of metal. Black metal was that weird in between post thrash and modern day metal.

anon (01/09/2016) [-] Addiction is an illness. Not much you can do about it. You wouldn't blame a parent if it died from it's kids from cancer would you? Addicts need rehab and medical attention, not prison and hate. Source: I'm an recovered alcoholic with one son. Being addicted to something and having cancer are 2 very different things don't compare apples to oranges. Nah, fuck that, addiction is not an illness nor a disease, it's lack of common fucking sense and disregard for yourself and those around you. No one forced you to blow a damn thing and no one sure as shit forced a needle in your arm full of something you had to go out of your way to find and get ready to shoot. I was doing 30ish bags of heroin a day for over two years ( never shot it, couldn't bring myself to so I just blew it) but the whole " ohh it's a disease, its not your fault " bullshit is just a way to coddle people and make them feel like they couldn't help it. Two years, and every day I knew it was my fault, because I wasn't some jaded twat who needed an excuse to feel like what I was doing was justified ( I then used suboxone for a week after I decided having a gun thrust into my face was the end of it for me and got off the crap) the suboxone is a completely different issue all together I won't go into now, but will say you don't need more than a couple days on it if you don't keep making excuses as to why you do. Just like with damn near everything else you're in control of your own life, and in control of how you live it. #62 -
anon (01/09/2016) [-] Yea man, when your sweating dick, throwing your guts up wanting to die with the only seeable way to stop it is to use more, it for sure isnt an illness. Eat a dick you reclusive faggot. Or ya know, man the fuck up and deal with it like I did after only a week of suboxone, like I said, there's a bunch of excuses, and being dope sick is just another excuse people use to keep doing it because they don't have it in them to say enough is enough. Go cry about what you did to yourself to someone who will sympathize, not me. #75 -
anon (01/09/2016) [-] Who cried? Just telling you whats up man. No one sets out to be an addict, it just happens and a lot of people dont know what to do. I dont cry, I detoxed in my bed for a week once I knew I was physically addicted. Some people dont got that ability, and someone who claims to have gone through it should be more sympathetic, not act like a vegan and take kt as a chance to show yourself and being 'SUPERIOR'. Faggot. Nope, no sympathy to anyone who uses the excuse that it's a disease to justify doing it in the first place, and please, do read where I said it's a lack of common sense and a disregard for everyone around you, I don't know how saying either about yourself is acting superior. But ya know That's fine and all, but don't even try to compare addictions to cancer. One is the person's fault, the other (usually) is not. I'd just like to try and provide an opinion on this matter, maybe it'll give you perspective from the other side. Addiction, like diseases, can be genetically predisposed. If it runs in your family you are more likely to become one yourself, even controlling for things like home environment. That is not something you can assign fault to. If you don't know better you think you can, and just say 'oh the addict is lazy and should die its their fault'. Sure, an addict has to start somewhere and sure you can say 'then don't fucking do heroin idiot' and I'd agree, but for something as socially perverse as alcohol you can see why it's harder to avoid completely. You may not know your predisposition for addiction until you're sliding. As an analogy: schizophrenia is seen as having genetic and environmental factors. A person is predisposed genetically, but it takes something in the environment (like major stress) to cause the symptoms to appear, typically in young adulthood (gee, like when addictions start to manifest). Would you go to a schizophrenic and say 'you should've avoided all that stress and you wouldn't be like this'? I understand the genetics behind addiction and I recognize it as a disease, I'm studying genetics. However, the 2 should not, and can not, be compared as he did. Becoming addicted to things is one problem, but as you said you can avoid becoming addicted to certain things by not taking that drug or drinking alcohol to that extent. With cancer, you can not avoid it unless it's cause was through bad habits like smoking and drinking. As for people who didn't know they were predisposed to addiction and ended up addicted to drugs, that's unfortunate but yet again they decided to make the decision to do it in the first place. Of course I mean this for hard drugs like heroin and cocaine. I don't blame people for everyday things becoming addictive like gambling, or eating (of course that for those who are genetically inclined to them, not those with bad judgement). That shit only works if the person wants to be "cured". Otherwise they'll stay that way forever. There is usually an underlying reason why people let themselves slip into that condition though, striking them out from regular users who do it for the kicks and can control when and where they take it; Usually to do with 'escaping' their current life or situation, just like people who play video games to temporarily forget the world. Provide those people with a way to unhook themselves from it, to fix whatever is bugging them, and they'll usually turn around - Strip them of freedom, however, throwing them into the slammer and they'll just cost taxpayer money sitting in a cell, finding it harder to reintergrate into society when they do their time. That's a really easy thing to say until you actually run into people with the issue. As I said earlier, the only way out is for them to want to be out. My brother had a CoWorker OD on Heroin in the bathroom at work at the gas station he works at. He'd only been working there for 2 weeks. He called me over to see if I could get the door unlocked I have a shitty past , or open, so we could check on her. She'd been snoring in the bathroom for 30 minutes when he called me. I couldn't get the door open so we called the police. They Crowbarred the door open and immediately ran to his squad car to call for backup and a wagon. She OD'd on heroin and hit her head on the potted plant in the bathroom. Had no higher brain function, had aspirated blood, and died 2 days later. This was about a month ago, and fuck me if it didn't wreck my brothers life for a few days till the cops said he couldn't have saved her no matter what he did. So yea, like you said. If you wanna OD, do it on your own time. Fucking pricks. It's just such a fundamentally selfish thing to do. Shit, imagine if she had died. Her and the baby would've died if another relative hadn't found her. Then, even if the baby lived, she'd live the rest of her life with the knowledge that her mother cared more about shooting shit into her veins than she cared about her. What a fucked up thing to do to a kid.

Did anyone get you a designated pissing sink for Christmas?
Holy **** , did you really archieve your profile in one month? Are you online 24/7 or how is this possible?
Huh? I don't know what you mean by that. If it has something to do with levels or thumbs, I mostly comment on posts with around 100 thumbs that will probably reach the front page, so I have several comments with hundreds of thumbs.
I was just curious. You archieved in 1 month what I did in 5 years

Holy **** a mod. I actually had an account a few years ago, and I've been lurking for a long time, so I think I generally get everything. Never been on the boards, though.
Sweet, thanks. What boards are actually on here? I might check them out.
