As a musician, I can tell you that they indeed most likely took jazz ensemble and know their shit, because jazz solos are nothing more than listening to a beat and coming up with your own shit.

source: 6 years of music classes.

As a music theorist, yes they are strangers. The dissonance in some parts was not because of a lack of knowledge of a piece or anything, it was the lack of rehearsal. This was an impromptu sax-off. Very impressive alto player. Very patient.

Size doesn't mean much though, apart in terms of armor. The E-D would be able to run circles at sublight around an ISD; not to mention that according to lore, most Starfleet ships have a weapons range measured in the light-seconds, while Star Wars ships rely on brute force and numbers to crush the enemy by going up close and personal. In a 1v1, most TNG-era warships would destroy an ISD easily. The difficulty comes into the fact that Starfleet is basically a rounding error against the Empire's fleets in terms of numbers.

It may have more guns than the Enterprise, a scientific ship, but it doesn't matter if those weapons are that far behind technologically.
Star Trek Tech stomps Star Wars Tech
#121 - dranners (12/16/2015) [-]
False.

Most ships in Star Wars are capable of traveling across the entire Galaxy within a short period of time. Most ships in Star Trek (as was the basis of the entire Voyager series) are limited to very small parts of the Galaxy. The technology used within the Star Wars universe is quite literally, light years ahead. Given that the ships are proven to not only be able to traverse an entire Galaxy, but conquer most of it (implying constant warfare over massive periods of time), you can scale the ability of the weapons to a similar level of advancement.

Plot-tropes have to be ignored for this type of thing, if you're going to go with them you need to hold in account that shuttlecraft have evaded and caused combat damage to flagships within the Trek-verse. You need to focus on applicable feats.

Just wondering where Stargate Vessels with asgard beam weapons and or the Orai/Ancients war vessels might fit in with all this lovely power?
#12 - bluedime (12/15/2015) [-]
yeah, but the shields of the star destroyer are shit. like they couldn't stop a crashing fighter from destroying the bridge.

a crashing fighter would still deal some serious damage to the enterprise-d especially if it crashed into the bridge, and even if it does that they can move to the battle bridge but not enough to destroy it.
#15 - sargebiffy (12/15/2015) [-]
Well, the reason the shields didn't stop that fighter is because in the shot right before that you can see the bridge sheild generator get blown up and then a statement from a crew member about how the bridge sheild is offline. So yes, a disabled shield is rather ineffective at stopping crashing fighter. Also, fyi, that scene involes a super star destroyer, not an imperial class star destroyer. nerd rant over.

To be specific, it was a rebel fighter crashing into the bridge of the Executor Super Star Destroyer, which then proceeded to crash into the Death Star.

Then there's this ablative armor.

Voyager spoiler, if there's any people currently watching or plan to watch:
It allowed Voyager to temporarily shrug off an entire Borg fleet like it was nothing when the ship escaped through the transwarp hub. Hell, it even got supplied with transphasic torpedoes which could one shot Borg cubes.

Future tech, decades ahead of Voyager's time. It apparently worked like shield generator, but instead of energy field. It created dense layers of nearly impenetrable armor that doesn't regenerate over time but had massive damage tolerance. Which isn't too hard to believe with combination of replicator and transporter technology.

The whole thing of voyager seemed to be "oh hey this would be cool in star trek".

"Nah, its too silly an idea"

"Ok, save it for voyager, we'll send em to the future or something"

As fucking hilarious as that would be, I can't see it referred to as such anywhere other than wikipedia, which is about as reliable as bathroom graffiti for conveying facts. I'd say it's pretty likely that was put in there by some anon or b/tard making a meme joke.
