You just come off as one of those "America never does anything wrong and we're super powerful and kick all the other countries asses" types. I don't know if that's who you are, it's just a hunch.

Um.... One country can't stop everybody from trading with Cuba. Nobody has that kind of power. Cuba is just a generally poor country.
User avatar #15 - senorpeppers (05/17/2011) [-]
no, we totally can. We spend $650 billion a year on defense alone, more than all of Europe combined. The United States has been blockading Cuba since the Cuban Revolution due to the illegal seizure of US owned property.

You mean every once in awhile (sorry kind of a grammar Nazi) and although I agree with you that alcohol isn't chemically addictive, and that I can't spell alcohol, we have alcoholics because it is directly related to psychological health, such in case as my father. I hate to sound like one of those guys who knows someone who has everything wrong, but my father was emotionally abused as a child, he's bipolar and emotionally unstable. Like many others he abuses alcohol because it makes him forget how to feel bad. and they develop an "addiction" because they can't handle any guilt, grief, or emotional disturbances. They use alcohol to solve their problems this is also the most intelligent arguement I've gotten into with someone on the internet

I don't get what you are trying to say. You agree that there is behavioral addiction and that it is different than chemical addiction. How does this not apply to marijuana? Addiction is addiction, regardless of circumstance. If one needs a substance to function properly, it is not somebody claiming to be addicted, it is addiction. As I said before, marijuana withdrawals do exist and have been seen in test animals in scientific studies. I think that we can agree that withdrawals are typically a symptom of an addiction.

#5 - no, trust me, it is addictive.  [+] (10 new replies) 04/20/2011 on Stoner fag -5

No seriously, it's not chemically addictive, however when someone has unresolved conflicts in their life, repressed emotions, or unresolved fixations use it as relief much like alcohol. My friends and I used to smoke it all the time. I didn't much care for it, plus I needed to stop to get a job, and so did many others, the only people who claimed they couldn't stop were those with problems at home, or repressed emotions. Pertaining to the youngest of us, her parents never liked anything she did, and the other who couldn't stop, well, most of his family is either dead or screwed over his emotions to the point that he is mentally unstable. So yeah, I've personally experienced it first hand. I mean sure it was a relief, but it's not addictive.
User avatar #12 - senorpeppers (04/21/2011) [-]
okay but here is my point. You say it isn't chemically addictive, but neither is alcohol. Yet, we have alcoholics. Your body can get addicted to any number of substances or, as you say, behaviors. There is such a thing as marijuana addiction; my own father suffers from it. There is also such a thing as a marijuana withdrawal. I agree with you that marijuana isn't explicitly addictive, I smoke myself once every while.
