Btw once I started lifting I became so addicted to it that it replaced my addiction of league . Life was much better without league I have to say.

every time i had a bad game i would run a mile or two or go lift. best shape i was ever in. then i quit league and gained some poundage. now im combining the two again to get back in shape. that game is rage inducing garbage, but the rage is great workout fuel.

I only brought that up, as you thought I did P90x, and said I'm not about body building.

No, I have my own workout that has helped gotten me to competing in soccer at the national level. As for body building, for what I do, its beyond inefficient. Once again, I'm about fitness.

They do not cause injury if used properly.

They are a good workout tool, but there are other things that can do the job better.

If you've ever read any of my posts on this board you will know that I agree that doing a single workout is the stupidest thing you could do.

I'm defending them because of the stupid shit you say. And I'm afraid others will believe your cancerous shit.

No resistance bands are not for old people.
No they do not cause muscular imbalance.
Resistance bands do give you a wider array of workouts compared to a pull up bar. You can work out your calves, thighs, abs, and everything you can do with a pull up bar. Are there ways to work out said areas better than with a resistance band? Absolutely, but resistance bands are very versatile, and promote flexibility, and that is their selling point. Once again, there are thousands of other ways to do things better, and more efficiently compared to resistance bands.

I don't own a single resistance band. I used to, but I currently don't. P90x and Insanity, I don't even own a dvd player. But if you think I love them and have every edition of p90x because I'm proving your misinformed facts wrong at every turn, sure, whatever puts a smile on your face.

I follow my own workout from when I used to play soccer competitively. With increased cardio, and weight exercises.
I have played soccer at the U-17 national level. I'm currently an amateur boxer.
I think I know about working out.

They're caused by improperly working out, and only working out one part of your body. Which can happen with many things, not just resistance bands. I still have no idea why you're so hellbent that they're the devil and for old people, and you still haven't explained your reasoning for the latter.

Anyways, they're caused by improperly working out, and as a result the opposite muscle isn't flexible nor strong enough was that mentioned earlier? Oh wait, it was, I mentioned it to counteract the pull on your joints due to one side being stronger. My solution would be, if I did X exercise with resistance bands in the right direction, I'm also going to do them in the left direction. And to everyone's surprise, that actually works.

Somehow you've gone from claiming that resistance bands are for old people, and are now claiming they will cause muscular imbalance, which, like anything else, if done improperly, also will.

And considering resistance bands improve muscle flexibility and muscle endurance, I have no Idea how they cause muscular imbalances. As muscular imbalances are due to poor flexibility and poor muscle endurance among other factors.

OP was asking which people prefer to work out with. OP stated he prefers resistance bands compared to pull up bars.

And with my amazing powers of deduction aka reading , I can infer that OP has both.
User avatar #14786 - scoobydoobydo (07/02/2014) [-]
That is because OP does not have the strength to be able to workout with just a pull bar. So he does not need resistance bands he needs dumbbells.
User avatar #14781 - leobaloy (07/02/2014) [-]
First resistance bands are for old people
Then you throw in that they're an add on and can't be used for main lifts (which I don't think anyone has ever claimed, so moot point is moot)
Now you're saying its a joke to ONLY use resistance bands (which no one claimed was a good idea either, nor will endorse)
Using just resistance bands will NOT result in muscular imbalance injuries if used correctly. Using anything incorrectly has a chance to fuck you up, doing deadlifts wrong, chance to fuck you up, doing squats incorrectly, guess what? Another chance to fuck yourself up. And let's be honest, there's more injuries due to accidentally dropping weights on yourself than people hurting themselves with resistance bands. And that's not counting injuries related to improper form. So I really have no idea what point you were trying to make there.

My point in mentioning MMA fighters was to rebuttal your piss poor argument that resistance bands are for old people. Which I don't know why I bothered in humoring you on that.

"There" workout is probably 5-10% resistance band work. Which is actually a lot, considering half their workout is sparring.

I said muscular imbalance injuries not muscular injury. The point is pull up bar will do much more for op then a resistance band lol. Thanks for being a grammar nazi. ("There")
User avatar #14787 - leobaloy (07/02/2014) [-]
I know what you said.

And considering resistance bands improve muscle flexibility and muscle endurance, I have no Idea how they cause muscular imbalances. As muscular imbalances are due to poor flexibility and poor muscle endurance among other factors.

I just elected to ignore that part of your comment. Also, the phrase grammar nazi is actually grammatically incorrect.
User avatar #14789 - scoobydoobydo (07/02/2014) [-]
Lol what is stretching for? Muscular imbalance is not at all what you just said lo.
User avatar #14791 - leobaloy (07/02/2014) [-]

User avatar #14795 - scoobydoobydo (07/02/2014) [-]
My point this entire time is that resistance bands should not be used as an entire workout but you seem to praise them because you can't stop defending them. It makes me think you workout at home to p90x and insanity with an entire collection all different lengths and colors of resistance bands .
User avatar #14798 - leobaloy (07/02/2014) [-]

User avatar #14799 - scoobydoobydo (07/02/2014) [-]

If you were ever decent at any sport in highschool, you'd know what U rankings are. Last time I checked, I never claimed to be a body builder, nor do I want to be.

Soccer does prove I'm all about being in peak physical condition, and boxing does as well.

I'm all about fitness, and by looking at the name of this board, I think I'm in the right place, considering the word bodybuilding is absent.

I only brought that up, as you thought I did P90x, and said I'm not about body building.

No, I have my own workout that has helped gotten me to competing in soccer at the national level. As for body building, for what I do, its beyond inefficient. Once again, I'm about fitness.

And one more time for your legume sized brain to comprehend.

Resistance bands (the springy things that look like over sized rubber bands), are not only for old people.

They do not cause injury if used properly.

They are a good workout tool, but there are other things that can do the job better.

I still fail to see how they're for old people. Please elaborate on this
User avatar #14776 - scoobydoobydo (07/02/2014) [-]
What I am saying is that if your goal is to gain muscle then it is a joke to have a whole workout program for weeks straight using resistance bands. OP is looking for something to workout with. Using JUST resistance bands will result in so many muscular imbalance injuries from lack of any compound lifts. And that is so pointless to say mma fighters train with resistance bands. There workout is probably 5-10% resistance band work. Also mma fighters do not equal bodybuilders.
User avatar #14783 - leobaloy (07/02/2014) [-]
And OP is not looking for something to work out with.

No one has claimed that MMA fighters are body builders either, but these guys work on their bodies to compete in their careers. I think they know a tad when it comes to working out.
