i'm going to believe that this was the first of the patriots "recreate a legendary soldier from an ordinary soldier" trials and that essentially he is big boss because the first trial went so well. Yeah, but I can't deny the Truth cassette, but I also think that Ishmael was made up, mainly because he's voiced by Kiefer Sutherland, who voices "Big Boss", and basically, he needed to mentally convince himself to get up and move or he'd die, plus, you don't see Ishmael ever again after "Big Boss" wakes up in the ambulance, unless the Truth cassette is actually the truth, then "Big Boss" got himself away but hallucinated that he woke up in the passenger seat, because Revolver Ocelot mentions in cassettes and talking that "Big Boss" would have auditory and visual hallucinations. So, I believe that Ishmael wasn't even there, but the game dictates that Ishmael is Big Boss, and that "Venom Snake" is actually the medic, because Big Boss didn't have a big-ass piece of shrapnel in his face.

The true ending still bothers me, a lot, like, why would they do it? Why have the medic in the chopper become "Venom Snake"? Is it because of continuity? Is it because, in order for Big Boss to command FOXHOUND, that they'd have to backpedal so Solid Snake would take out Venom Snake instead of "Big Boss"? It just bothers me, they could've easily kept Big Boss as actual Big Boss in MGS V without making it some convoluted storyline, then again, it would be Kojima without really weird storytelling.

Welp, there goes Sniper Waifu. She got really handy for Prisoner Extraction and the like.

there's a pretty strong theory that ishmael is the medic. If you look at the Ground zeroes footage there is actually a 6th dude way in the back of the chopper (he holds down chico too.) You can clearly see that neither the medic nor snake got that big ass debris in his head so it's likely the 6th guy who got hit with that shit. The other convincing point was that the medic dove infront of big boss and risked his life for him, with such a strong sense of duty and identity, it would be hard to psycho implent false memories and on top of that, some one willing to give his life for bb would be the perfect guardian for him until he woke up, so it does make sense that he would be ishmael and protect him. More evidence is that if you camera hack ground zeroes ishmael has the same face as the random 6th dude, AND, in venom's flash backs the 6th dude isn't there because his memories were lost and was replaced with big boss'. Of course this theory contradicts the "truth" cassette but isn't the whole motif of metal gear solid 2 "don't trust something just because some one tells it to you."?

The game was nearly ruined for me because I found out the true ending, but it was so goddamn good that I had to keep playing it.

But anyhow, even if it was a secret, how on God's Green Earth was I even supposed to think that, hey, the Emblem might keep her.

That's just completely random.

its just one of those "back in the day" secrets that old school games had without hinting at them at all. I know the true ending but spoilers don't bother me. I'm the kinda guy who prioritizes the journey over the destination.

She's left for some reason and I hope I can get her back.
#27 - schindewolforch (09/14/2015) [-]
no, you need to have the butterfly emblem equipped at all times before you reach your max relationship rank with her. the butterfly emblem keeps it at 90% so you get all the perks but she never leaves. Sorry.
