Then you should tell people to give a shit about other elections. Senators and mayors try to appeal to old people because they are the only ones who vote. The only time young people are ever relevant in an election is the presidential election every 4 years. Yet every year there will be people like you so ignorant of what's going on screaming their head off about "both parties suck this time, that's why we need a 3rd party."

You don't seem to understand how much support you need to actually be able to run a campaign for presidency. People are quick to assume the worst in others that's why it's hard to see why any presidential candidate has sold their dignity in order to get support from big business and other countries. We see someone that's corrupt but from their eyes that's their only option if they even want to have a shot. If you want the 3rd party to even have a shot then you need be screaming at people to vote in other elections, not just the presidential one because when it comes time for the presidential campaign to start, it's already too late for 3rd party. Say whatever you want right now but it is a fact that if you vote 3rd party you have wasted your vote.

It's simply how the US works right now. If you want to change it you are free to do so, many other would support it but no one gives a shit about making progress towards the ideal, they just want it handed to them.

Everyone who thinks like you is ignorant. You don't know how the system works and you're optimistic. I don't care enough to repeat myself for you children several times but the gist of it is that the president doesn't hold all the power, if you want a 3rd party president you need 3rd party senators and congressmen. Can't have a white house full of democrats and republicans and elect a 3rd party president, it's retarded.

You're right, without 3rd party influence elsewhere, it would be pointless. But it's a start. If we get a 3rd party president, then we can at least get people thinking of other choices for Congress and such. And if we just give up, then we're doomed to repeat this until America is run into the ground and dead.

It's the same with this election. I know Gary Johnson won't win. But if we keep pushing for 3rd party even after the election, then more and more people will at least think different, if not join us. The two party system is not working, and it's time for some change.

I think that one day a third party will win, but when it does it will have to be under drastic circumstances. There's plenty of stupid people out there and it will take some pretty huge signs to get them to that point. I mean look at Hillary. She has been confirmed to have done many crimes and yet she has a little under half of the predicted polls. I want to believe a third party victory is possible, but I honestly doubt that we'd ever be able to pull it off unless we are at the verge of a civil war. I don't think the problem is a self-defeating attitude of the voters, so much as it is that people don't dig for information enough. They see a few ads on tv and say "Yeah, I'll vote for them!" Elections seem to be more of an overblown popularity contest then a choice based upon the public's ideals on a candidate's policies and ideals, and third parties just don't have the funds to show off like Republicans and Democrats can. I frequently forget that there even is a third party because I just never hear about them when I'm not actively search for information. For them to win in my opinion they either need to find a way to gain a massive amount of publicity, or America needs to become a big enough shithole that people activity begin searching for a way out of the 2 party system.

I used to think that it was simply due to not getting enough info to the public. And so, since Trump and Clinton are terrible choices, I decided Gary Johnson would make the best choice based on the circumstances. I posted on facebook, twitter, any platform I had to make my friends know who he was. And a good many of them are seriously considering him as an option. But for every one who was interested, I had two saying "It's a waste of a vote, stick to the main two candidates". Even presented with a clearly better choice, they still were unimpressed simply due to the fact he's 3rd party.

People would rather vote for who they think will win instead of the one who will do the best job. And that worries me.

Why not? Specifically gay people, why do they not deserve equal treatment? Innocent until proven guilty right? If they do something wrong, then sure punish them. But the average gay person just happens to like dick, why does that exclude them from equality?

Good point. Sorry gay people, olisaurus on funnyjunk doesn't want you to have rights that every other American has, there's nothing we can do.

C'mon man, you don't have to support it, but you should at least be for the equal treatment of all people. If it makes you uncomfortable then I'm sorry, but that doesn't mean we should treat a group of people of over 9 million people less than others.
