Color is just an optical mode of perception. Each color is just a representation of photon wave frequency and doesn't actually exist outside the mind. While other animals may perceive color, it is very unlikely that they perceive the same spectrum as us.

Think about it, if color is real, what causes it?
Well, when something is the color of, say, red, it means that the surface of this object is absorbing every color in the visible light spectrum except red. How this happens is certain molecules within the object are smaller or bigger than the wavelength of certain light rays, this causes an absorption and reflection of certain waves. When the waves reach our eyes, the photo-sensitive nerves translate the wave frequencies into color.

What is color to a rock? Why doesn't color exist on an atomic scale? Because it's all in our heads.
