Like, seriously, this is what it would look like if what you're claiming is true

You could draw the conclusion that the more firearms saturated in an area by lawful citizens the greater effect they have. Mostly, people inclined to commit a crime against another person are dissuaded by the prevalence of firearms, but the effect is not notable till roughly one half of the citizens are armed.

If you look at this map, you can see that gun control actually has little effect on the number of murders, just look at the difference between places like Texas and DC.

Thanks for the higher quality but both of these go against what you're claiming.
If more guns meant less violent crime then there would be a direct correlation between crime and gun ownership.
By the contrary, gun ownership in 90~95 was the highest it had ever been, yet in the graph for violent crime was at an all time high.
Plus if you look up any article done on the 90's decrease in crime, almost all will claim better policing was the main cause of the crime reduction.

If it's a mental health issue
Then why let the lunatics have firearms?

There is no logical reason to have guns, only fear and misguided patriotism.
User avatar #266 - ryander (07/21/2014) [-]
In a lot of cases maybe, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that. Guns aren't a negative thing all the time. They're a double edged sword.
An example that often comes to mind is that there always have to be people with the top-notch weapons to fight in wars againt other people using top-notch weapons. This means if your country does not have guns you'll need an elite using guns (usually special police or miltary) .If those elite turn on the people to create a totalitarian state, or in case of invasion, or a gang with guns, they will be met with resistance, whereas the same would not apply if you were to ban guns. It makes a civilian revolution impossible without the help of the elite. Altough in my country I know people from the army and police and I truly doubt they would shoot on their own, but you never know.
User avatar #193 - ryander (07/21/2014) [-]
Also James Holmes' colorado shooting for example was done in the cinema that did not allow the carrying of concealed guns, as is the case with most shootings.
This is why earlier I was advocating to make sure schools are guarded by sane people with guns against lunatics with guns.
Making restrictions on the amount of bullets could also help reduce problems. Just look at fucking Switzerland.

From a female: Just inside the entrance, on the roof. It'll have a texture like the roof of your mouth. Use your fingers and curl them on it, rubbing lightly at first. Wait for directions if your girl is coherent.
