Don't pirate it, just buy it. You can't do everything with the pirated versions for the most part, and the developers deserve the money.

I started minecraft with pirated copy and I now have paid for the game legitimately so shut up.

Firstly - The game in itself is a piece of worthless crap the only reason it's any good is because of the player

Secondly - Minecraft's longevity is from the openness to modding and the ease of making a server, both of which can cause the game to be playable for free and a private server is completely legal (From what I can tell)

Thirdermagurdnotawurdly - The creators of minecraft have made more than enough money off of minecraft that several thousand players pirating the game won't put them out of house and home (Doesn't apply to all game just Triple A titles [CoD, Halo etc] and Minecraft is one of the few if not the only Indie game that this would apply to)

Tl;Dr - "the developers deserve the money." They deserve nothing more than what they put into the work, and they have gotten more than enough to justify pirating the game

As a message to you, whom I'm glad you pirated, and to any naysayers.

Notch himself has stated that if you can't afford the game, pirate it. He doesn't mind. Just buy it when you can. The only downside of pirating it is that it's much more difficult just to play multiplayer. It's possible I've heard, it just takes more work.

That is exactly what i did, i had the pirated version a few months ago i bought it

i pirated minecraft too, but the game is so fucking great, and notch is really awesome and good guy, so im planing to buy game soon..

I will take your word for him saying that, as that makes me feel much better about having pirated it before buying it. I bought my account around a year or so ago I think, maybe year and a half. I tend to pirate games before i spend the money to buy them simply because why spend the money and then hate the game?
