I believe no.
They use the same basic principles as railguns but don't have the perfectly smooth acceleration of the railgun. Gauss weapons don't use the ammunition as part of the circuit so they have to have sequentially activating parts to continue accelerating the payload as it travels through the barrel whereas with a railgun, the force follows the projectle all the way through, because the bullet itself is part of the magnetic field generation.
I guess there's the issue that the projectile in a railgun does have to actually make contact with the railgun throughout its journey so the circuit remains closed but I don't think that small amount of friction will have much effect.
