Well I don't have cable any more, but when I did I just thought it was stupid how that was the only thing they really censored while the shows before and after weren't, didn't make much sense, but thank you for the info. Plus I just watch them on netflix now.
#179 - rockyshand (04/11/2013) [-]
No problem. It's definitely easier to watch it on Netflix. And cheaper than Cable for sure.

I know, I'm just being picky, I've watched movies where a professional athlete is recruited by beloved childhood cartoon characters to defeat evil martians who stole the abilities of other professional athletes of the same game. who were sent to earth to kidnap the cartoon characters to increase profits. so who am I to judge?

#35 - Why are you worried about realism in an animation?  [+] (4 new replies) 04/10/2013 on Whitebeard 0
User avatar #44 - galaxyguy (04/10/2013) [-]
Because my ability to suspend my disbelief is quite limited, so something so utterly impossible like whitebeard severely limits my ability to enjoy the anime.
#86 - rockyshand (04/11/2013) [-]
Fair enough, but if that's the case I'd have to recommend another form of media.
User avatar #52 - beasert (04/11/2013) [-]
If Whitebeard is too weird, then I would suggest avoiding One Piece entirely. There are few animes that delve into realism because they are primarily for escapism.
If you haven't seen it yet, I would recommend Azumanga Daioh. It's well grounded in reality, and the nonsensical stuff comes primarily from the characters interpretation of things.
User avatar #98 - galaxyguy (04/11/2013) [-]
I actually enjoyed several hundred episodes of One Piece.

And an anime that is a hundred percent grounded in reality would be uninteresting to watch.

I just prefer when the characters and their actions are so obviously impossible.

It's not about videogames having an ending (some of them don't). It's about the possibility of altering the story. If you can change the outcome of the story, what's the point of it? If we take your videogame to the extreme, you can just not partake in the story whatsoever. Moreover, you can become the villain, and nobody will be able to stop you. And the moral of some particular story will be - it's okay to kill people, because it amuses you. BAM! Great story, I can already see it becoming an all-time classic.

Not all books have a good ending. In fact there are books that follow the criminal's point of view rather than an outstanding citizen. Your generalizations do not refute any point I have made, there are books that don't have endings, and books that don't tell a story. Even though I disagree with your reasoning I respect you standing your firm ground for what you believe. Have a nice day.

I get your point about the possible great suffering that video game designers go through. But still... video game is exactly what it is - a GAME. Its primary purpose is for people to play and "beat" it - however different the actual goal of the game may seem, in the end it's the same. A book however, is written to make a point. You don't "play" a book - its letters are carved in stone, there are no options for "better" outcomes - it's what a true lesson should be. A video game, by letting you choose the outcome, defies the very purpose of a lesson.
TL;DR there's no saving and loading in books.
#131 - rockyshand (04/02/2013) [-]
I'm sorry but I can't agree with you there. Isn't the goal of a book to finish reading it? Why should that differ from a game? To complete it. To finish the story?
