 fair enough. yeah if someone called me "american" or "black" or "black american" (without saying african) I wouldn't mind or correct them, because those terms are technically accurate. but think there's been a push to redefine the terminology for no reason... so I figured I'd weigh in when I can. I still don't see how you think that referring to an american of african decent as "african american" is inherently incorrect... my parents taught me that if someone moved here from Africa tomorrow, they'd be an African, living in America, but if they had a kid, that kid (and all descendants after) would be african American. same with "Italian american", "Asian American", "Chinese American" but y'know, fuck it. You can say whatever you want. as long as you're not a dick about it, you're cool with me. | ||

| in the US, most black folks ARE african american though. It's not wrong or offensive, It's just for the most part true. Jamaicans are Jamaican Middle Easterners are Middle eastern no one's advocating for calling all brown people african american. just the african americans. It's really not as big a deal as people make it our to be. If you're really not sure just say "black" that works too. and if you mess it up, no one's going to get offended. they'll just correct you and you'll know. or don't... who the fuck am I to police you. I'm just correcting Anon, who said that if someone is not an african immigrant, they are not African American. this statement is false. It's more taboo than stillbirth, frowned upon by many, seen as not just the result of sin, but also as a sin in itself however if the system is done right, it stops teenagers from drinking mega-doses of potentially lethal herbs, and women from asking loved ones to beat them, or really desperate ones from intentionally having accidents or engaging in risky behaviors which can have the potential to harm others in the community and complicated situations where women are forced to keep their unwanted children, or jeopardize aspects of their lives carrying a child to term for adoption. It's tricky. | ||

 Dispersion of heat through a liquid is slower and less effective than it is through a gas. Also following the properties of heat the hot water would rise up. So it wouldn't be very hot unless you are a few feet away or directly over the top of it. Conducts yes, meaning it can draw heat from a source faster than air can, but it also takes more energy to heat a large volume of water than it does to heat an equally large volume of air. It's more about density and how far that heat can spread before the surrounding unheated water cools down the water closer to the heat source. Dispersion is different from conductivity.  If it takes more energy, that just means the water would be cooler given an equal amount of heat (which is true, as water has a very high specific heat [because of hydrogen bonds]). It still draws away the heat faster. Dude, air is an insulator. Unless there is incredibly good ventilation, the water will cool something off much better than air. Just look at smithing as an example. You don't quench a blade in air, you do it in water (or oil). | ||

Standalone ShoC remake made by Dezowave.
It's pretty great, but it feels so empty (not a lot of secret loot spots, very few npcs wandering outside, cheap jumpscares that pose no threat).
It has a bit of custom voice acting, includes cut zones, everything is different.

Tried it for 5 minutes, game started crashing every time I started a new game.
I'll possibly try it in the future, but now I am replaying the classic ShoC, it's so great.
I've already explored CoP/CS and I know everything about them, it's simply not as much entertaining as it was before.
