It's not a big deal, that's the point.
They focused on irrelevant features, not actual games.

its a waste of money and time for the designers of the xbox meaning they have put time and money into that rather then on a GAMING CONSOLE
we already have a tv and an easy way to switch between tv and xbox we want out gaming consoles to be fucking gaming consoles
#79 - sirwolfcat (05/22/2013) [-]
Just because they're adding additional features doesn't mean they're going to mess up gaming completely. I believe the gaming will be just fine and an improvement to the 360. And I'm sure you aren't going to be required to watch tv on the damn thing so you can just not use that app or whatever. Just wait for more details before you complain about the performance or features.

they can only make a console so expensive
therefore they have a limited budget for designing and making said console
the more money from that budget spent on frivilous silly things like the voice command and the tv stuff the less they have for making a good gaming console
#236 - sirwolfcat (05/23/2013) [-]
We have no idea what their budget for the Xbox One was nor how much of that budget was spent on what. But I do understand what you're saying, all we can do is wait and see and not jump to conclusions.

I love change, but only when it's a positive change. The Wii U has innovative features designed for gameplay, that's a positive change (it's not to everyone's tastes, but it's still positive). Moving away from gaming entirely is objectively a negative change for what should be a gaming system. Especially because the changes to the new xbox are mostly things that everyone can already do on their existing devices, like watching TV, netflix or skype; or they are things that have tried and failed before like the kinect.

I am rather happy to get my hands on an Xbox one. Its a blue-ray Player, it allows quick communication with your friends and has the power to play some powerful games. Yeah, Their emphasis was completely on games but if you read their website, it goes more into depth about what the gaming aspect of the system is. Half the people screaming out against it right now have only seen the reveal and have been going ape shit crazy because they didn't emphasize gaming, which is understandable. Despite that, I read all the information on the new system and I'm excited. I will have my Xbox One siting next to my Xbox 360 until they no longer make games for the 360. When they do release more games for the Xbox one, they are going to be stunning graphically. People are just too angry right now about all the other shit that Microsoft added to really look at the system for what it is. An All-In-One Media device.

agreed.
User avatar #78 - robertdylan (05/22/2013) [-]
Exactly, they are marketing it as an "entertainment system" instead of a gaming system and everyone's in a tizzy because it's different. I do get why people are upset in terms of the release videos and all that but there are really no negative changes. People just want something new to complain about, I think.

No gamers watch cable TV anymore, they use the internet.
Also, it was easy, you clicked a button on your remote to switch input. Now you say/click with an Xbox rather than a remote.

It's mostly all the other horrible shit. But the reason people are mad about the TV bit is that 90% of the press conference was about TV, not videogames.
User avatar #91 - mattmuch (05/22/2013) [-]
Love this argument.

The reason for a CONSOLE reveal is to show the console, showing games is for the companies that made the games to do at something like E3, they wanted to show the features for the Xbox which they did brilliantly.
User avatar #233 - aerius (05/23/2013) [-]
Except that E3 is being steadily moved away from by the sensible devs because it's become a bloated, corrupt gaming whorehouse that drains money from studios as they make extravagant, expensive displays to try and ply and bribe the press.
Games consoles should be ABOUT the games. Thus a console reveal should be ABOUT the games. This conference was something Microsoft wanted to show the world before E3 in order to attract more attention, and what they showed was a disgrace. If they had wanted, they could have waited for E3 for the reveal, but they didn't. www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/jimquisition/7358-Xbox-One-out-of-Ten

I watched some of it and I guess that makes sense but I really didn't see any real problems. I think people are just too scared of change to appreciate the good features
