there is a difference between a the bullshit people do now , and what the boston tea party was
protesting now is sitting in front of a building on your fat lazy ass and refusing to move, sooo sonvincing
during the boston tea party the people took action, destroyed british property, and made a mess of things. and sadly enough today this would be an act of terrorism.

Yeah, wall street people totally don't do anything.. I mean it's not like they somehow made NYC pay 2mil for what they are doing. Wooow, soo lazy man. What else can they do? The people they are going against isn't an entire effing ocean away, it's the police next to them.
The best they can do in a semi"orderly" fashion without blowing shit up is to speak in one crowd with a bunch of signs.
I admit, I barley know anything on the subject, but I know enough that you are wrong my friend. How else would you protest, AND get your point across at the same time?

The problem with this is that years before a failing economy, their armies had to thin out because of the large masses of land they were continuing to conquer, it was only after they stopped, because they would be invaded if they stretched their forces anymore, that the economy started to collapse. With the vast expansion of land, it made it very easy for the Germanic tribes TO invade because it doesn't matter if you have 10X as many men if they are on the other side of the country/

about the rich paying taxes or protest's being counter productive?

Rich paying taxes. Considering your comment about protests almost always being counter-productive is completely moronic cough Boston Tea Party cough.

Actually due to the many problems that occurred at around the same time, no one thing can be said to have started the collapse of Rome. A middle class was the byproduct of Rome's failing economy.
#48 - rivetingmexican (10/12/2011) [-]
I disagree. What truly did start the decline was a failing economy; which then gave Germanic tribes from around the area the confidence to invade Rome.

Correction: The rich people 60 years ago mainly worked to get where they were. Their children were born rich (Donald Trump for example) and then their children's children were born rich and there you go! 90% (ish) of the rich people inherited their fortune. Sure, some of them earned it, but it's funny; the one's who earned it (Bill Gates for example) are the ones who give their money to charity while the one's who didn't earn it usually want to keep it all for themselves.
