I got my brother, one sister and my mother to read that series, who in turn have gotten some of their friends to read it. it's 11 books long, just for the series, and now he (Terry Goodkind) is releasing a sequal to the series. Same main characters, different plot line.

I like George RR Martins myself, I am a picky reader. It's hard to deduce things when the author is bipolar though. That man writes whatever pops in to his demented little head.
#121 - rimjobmcgee (05/13/2014) [-]
He has a demented head, that's for sure, but I can tell, he's had a set idea from the beginning, and he hasn't written a thing as far as I can tell to differentiate from that. If he writes whatever pops into his head, he at least manipulates it first so it suits his grand idea. Imagine if he was planning crimes with a mind like that, that unpredictability, where even seemingly minor things end up singularly important in the end, he's such a fun puzzle, that's why I will accurately predict the ending to the series, its a competition for me between me and him I'm weird, I know

I am thinking, and I haven't read that far into the books so I don't know, but he may not get a champion and have to fight for himself. And/or the queen picks Jamie as her proxy, this next episode is going to be one of the best.

I haven't seen the show, but I've read the books, and this is the time when it really picks up and gets a lot more interesting and intricate. Honestly, George R.R. Martin amazes me, I'm usually exceptionally gifted at deducing things, but with my future predictions on the books, I wouldn't be shocked if he surprises me on 70% of them, that's why I'm fine on the wait times despite being an impatient person, because he has to go through so much to get the endings he wants without plot holes. He could have been one hell of a criminal master mind in another life

If you had some knowledge of other languages before death, maybe. Say you only speak english though, you tour guide a select few spots as your job. Think of the job and those conversations you hear. In 500 hundred years, are you really that confident in other languages, with only your own to go on, and no way to see if you are right on others, which may not share hardly any root terms, or that may share a lot, but you don't know the root language to use?

500 hundred years, random languages, limited time per tourist, and they'd all be talking about the same things. You'd learn very similar conversations in a lot of languages, but not a new language. You could be the tour guide of any tour there, but you wouldn't know the languages without more

#51 - rimjobmcgee (05/12/2014) [-]
You have a lot of faith in the good in humanity. Too many people are too selfish and avaricious for that. Too untrusting. Think, with a world wide cease fire for one year, during that time all countries military budgets (except soldiers who would be reassigned with pay to work non military areas) and the money saved then being used to care for basic needs of humanity world wide, how drastically the world could change for the better. But then countries are vulnerable if any country doesn't agree. Put one country in charge to make sure the others don't cause war, but what country could be trusted with that? If humans would unite as one, I'd happily agree with you, but I can't see that ever happening, humans will go extinct before they'll unify
