Its just a dress act.
I dont even think the air force wears camouflage.
User avatar #30 - roliga (01/13/2014) [-]
Of course they don't, because Japan doesn't have one...
User avatar #32 - warioteam (01/13/2014) [-]
I said "the", as in air forces in general. Shoo.
User avatar #33 - roliga (01/13/2014) [-]
Air force pilots generally do wear camo.
User avatar #34 - warioteam (01/13/2014) [-]
They may wear green and beige and whatnot, but I'm talking about the splattery kind.
User avatar #36 - roliga (01/13/2014) [-]
Olive drab is still classified as camo, and the "splattery" kind is still worn regularly too.
User avatar #38 - roliga (01/13/2014) [-]
Yes that is still classified as camo, thank you for proving my point.
User avatar #39 - warioteam (01/13/2014) [-]
As I said, my ignorant friend, I was talking about the leafy like kind.
User avatar #40 - roliga (01/13/2014) [-]
I realize that, the "leafy" kind is still worn on certain occasions...
User avatar #41 - warioteam (01/13/2014) [-]
Not as a regular and more common wear.
User avatar #43 - roliga (01/13/2014) [-]
Of course not right now, we're fighting in the desert, who would wear forrest garb in the desert? During vietnam though it was very popular and if we went to war in another jungle environment it would still be worn.
User avatar #44 - warioteam (01/13/2014) [-]
What I'm trying to say is, you don't need camo if your high above the ground.
User avatar #45 - roliga (01/13/2014) [-]
You do realize the air force still does some ground operations right? If they're forced to eject mid flight they need the camo too.

At first I would disagree because I orignally liked the new Dante. But I'm replaying ATM and I must say. That first has gone completely. Gameplay wise It's fine in my eyes but story and character design wise I've grown to hate it. Not to mention the game looks fucking ugly, the textures are poor quality and the models are non-the-wiser. I never thought I'd say this but I miss the old Dante.

If i'm following you correctly(i'm unsure if i am) then i don't think you general you, not you specifically can blame the creators of OP. It's 4kids fault in my opinion. They trying to turn a show into something it's not. If they want to dub kids shows from Japan, they should choose shows that are made for kids, not shows that are made for teenagers.
User avatar #139 - riddlerenigma (01/02/2014) [-]
Once again the whole cultural difference comes back into play here. You see the idea of say playing a card game in a really epic formula may appeal to Japanese audiences but in the west most teenagers would see that as really childish and dumb. So they make it appeal to the younger audience.
#141 - anonymous (01/02/2014) [-]

Because I'd rather a company that won't change the show a lot be given the distribution rights.

When those shows came out on like Fox Kids and other American networks, I was more than mature enough to handle them in their unadulterated forms. I mean, seeing a gun on Yugioh or seeing James of Team Rocket suddenly have big tits wasn't going to traumatize me any more than watching Predator II with my friends the previous night.

And, in the present, I'd like to be able to search things like Netflix and Hulu or watch TV without running the risk of seeing the 4Kids version.

One Piece is an teenage/adult anime, though. It only seems like it's targeted for kids because 4Kids changes so much about it, like making guns into super soaker looking things, taking away Smoker's cigars, and removing all of the blood and the brutal murdering the bad guys do.
User avatar #107 - riddlerenigma (01/02/2014) [-]

User avatar #142 - newsuperyoshi (01/02/2014) [-]
No one had a heart attack over Nintendo doing the same because they knew what to publish and how.
#134 - anonymous (01/02/2014) [-]
That's also a valid point, but obviously 4kids fucked up because the ratings on OP were so terrible they gave up and Funimation got the rights. Although our cultures might be different, some things stay the same.
User avatar #110 - schneidend (01/02/2014) [-]
Yeah, I get that the company is called 4Kids. I'm protesting their shitty policies, not whether those policies accurately reflect their name.

Hell, even Yugioh would have been a way more badass show if 4Kids hadn't touched it.
User avatar #116 - riddlerenigma (01/02/2014) [-]
THE COMPANY IS CALLED 4KIDS! AS IN FOR KIDS! THEY ARE NOT GOING TO ALLOW GUNS, UP SKIRT SCENES/REFERENCES AND SMOKING BECAUSE THE THEY MADE THE SHOW... FOR KIDS!
User avatar #143 - newsuperyoshi (01/02/2014) [-]
Your missing his point entirely.
User avatar #121 - schneidend (01/02/2014) [-]
Also, what I'm saying is that 4Kids should just not do that. Japanese companies shouldn't give production rights to 4Kids, and 4Kids should keep their hands off of anime.
User avatar #127 - riddlerenigma (01/02/2014) [-]
the japanese writers allowed them to do he dubbing and censorship. And there is a huge difference between japanese culture and Western. What if I told that the legal age of consent in Japan is 13 years old. and that sort of stuff has been referenced in a lot of shows that 4kids have dubbed. and guess what they get rid of it and make the shows suitable for their target audience. FOR KIDS!
User avatar #129 - schneidend (01/02/2014) [-]
Right. I understand there are cultural differences, I understand what 4Kids is doing and why they're doing it. What I am saying is that I don't want them to do it, and think that they should stop.
User avatar #131 - riddlerenigma (01/02/2014) [-]
Why then?
User avatar #135 - schneidend (01/02/2014) [-]
Because I'd rather a company that won't change the show a lot be given the distribution rights.

When those shows came out on like Fox Kids and other American networks, I was more than mature enough to handle them in their unadulterated forms. I mean, seeing a gun on Yugioh or seeing James of Team Rocket suddenly have big tits wasn't going to traumatize me any more than watching Predator II with my friends the previous night.

And, in the present, I'd like to be able to search things like Netflix and Hulu or watch TV without running the risk of seeing the 4Kids version.
User avatar #137 - riddlerenigma (01/02/2014) [-]
But they can't hope that everyone will be like you. That's the problem.
User avatar #138 - schneidend (01/02/2014) [-]
And yet, I don't give a shit. I don't want companies that pander to Bible-thumping parents having a monopoly on anime, which they more or less did back then.
User avatar #140 - riddlerenigma (01/02/2014) [-]
As much as I agree with you on that front. That's never going to happen. They may no longer get the monopoly on it but they most certainly are going to write home about it.
User avatar #145 - schneidend (01/02/2014) [-]
The lack of likelihood doesn't really diminish my wants, desires, and preferences. If it did, I wouldn't fantasize about fucking Sophia Vergara or Jessica Rabbit.

I'm aware of where they're coming from, and I'm familiar with how north americans drew black faces way back when. I just don't approve of censorship in general (unless of course it is nudity or profanity, and even then only if it's with underaged audiences) and you're right, people get offended for the dumbest reasons.

As long as it isn't nudity or profanity there's no reason it should be censored.

4kids finds almost everything offensive. They made Mr.Popo blue in the latest reboot because his lips made him racist if his skin was black. He wasn't even a human character. A flintlock pistol (something almost every pirate in history owned) was pointed at a character in One Piece, but 4kids decided that the gun was too scary for children (who are way into pirates and pistols and cutlasses) and made it into a weird hammer with a trigger mechanism.

When it comes to the multi/all gender character in the content, it's hit and miss. Personally I don't think it'd be an issue to show that on Yu-Gi-Oh. Then again when I was a kid I had a father who didn't mind explaining the realities of the world to me when I asked about things, unlike most parents today.
User avatar #70 - riddlerenigma (01/02/2014) [-]
Thing is though. With Mr. Popo he technically does look like a rascial sterotype from those old comics. Not to mention 4kids aren't the only company to do this. Capcom when they produced Megaman Powered Up for the PSP was censored for the exact reason. Don't believe me look up Did you know Gaming on youtube and here about robot master Oil Man. As for the pirate pistol, yeah I can see where your coming from but I can see where 4kids are coming from as well. maybe they are just afraid of being sued by the wrong person (yes that stuff those happen). reminds me a lot of that episode of the Simpson's where Marge tries to completely censor ichy and scratchy because of the violance. But there is a difference. 4Kids do it to make sure they appeal to the right audience (Children) where as Marge was being over protective.

As for the Multi gender situation. Yeah your right and your father most likely did the right thing but not everyone is your father. And some people get really offended by the stupidest of things.
User avatar #95 - schneidend (01/02/2014) [-]
One Piece is an teenage/adult anime, though. It only seems like it's targeted for kids because 4Kids changes so much about it, like making guns into super soaker looking things, taking away Smoker's cigars, and removing all of the blood and the brutal murdering the bad guys do.
User avatar #107 - riddlerenigma (01/02/2014) [-]
Clue's in the company name my friend. 4Kids! Besides you shouldn't really be complaining about One Piece that much since it's now done by Funimaton.
#130 - anonymous (01/02/2014) [-]
Yeah but you kind of have to blame 4kids for that. 4kids is trying to turn a show(in this case One Piece) that's demographic is male boys 13+ and turning it into a kids show for kids 7+.
User avatar #133 - riddlerenigma (01/02/2014) [-]
Personally I don't why the creators of one piece didn't think that to begin with. I mean the clue is kind of in the title.
#136 - anonymous (01/02/2014) [-]
