Just because they are Korean doesn't mean they are the same person.

Although I wish that applied in real life, because that would mean I have some artistic talent.

The common argument to that is that if he's all-powerful, why would he create *bad* people in the first place?
User avatar #14 - riddlerenigma (05/01/2014) [-]
He didn't. Adam and Eve were both convinced by the Devil to eat the apple from the Tree of Knowledge which God told them not to done. In that moment alone original sin was created.

assuming we were created by a God, there is no reason to believe that it knows anything about us other than what it observes of us. Imagine if we took several elements and combined them in a jar and it created a previously unheard of form of life (likely a bacteria in this example) you could argue that we created them, but we don't intrinsically know anything about this thing we created.

1. If Pluto would be labeled a planet by its standards, there would be +40 planets in our Solar System.

2. Jupiter is not just one gigantic gas cloud. Its core is much, much, much more denser than a Earth's core.

3. One characteristic that makes a planet a planet is its ability to orbit around THE SUN. The sun orbiting the sun? uwotm8

Jupiter has a rocky core of salts and metals and it's gaseous atmosphere is roughly in hydrostatic equilibrium, i.e. its pressure pushing outwards due to the gas balances with the inwards pulling gravity at the centre of mass. It also orbits the sun in an elliptical plane, and agrees with all 3 of Kevlars planetary laws of motion, and has no obstacles thats impact would disrupt its orbit in its immediate orbital path. These are essentially every definition of a planet among a fair few others. The sun falls under the categorical definition of a star, as a star is defined as a gaseous body whos outward pushing thermal pressure, pressure produced by the heat radiated by the insanely hot reactions within the body, being in balance with the pull of its gravity.

Source: I'm a third year astrophysics went over solar system physics 2 years ago so if infos a little off lemme know student and i like nothing better than helping people learn about the one thing i love most, space. Don't know why you're getting red thumbed, it's quite a valid question in my opinion
User avatar #163 - thepandaking (04/25/2014) [-]
>Kevlar
tee hee, Kepler, that's an innocent mistake but I thought it sounded funny.

I'm an aspiring astrophysics well I mean technically I am but I'm pretty shitty at math so I'm just seeing if I can work through that and still keep this major student and I like seeing that someone loves space like I do. Nothing like ranting about stuff you've learned when other people want to hear about it, it's incredible.
#171 - mca (04/25/2014) [-]
aw yea, brainfart haha it's been a while since we did orbital dynamics. You currently at university/college then? I'm at Glasgow university in the UK, and the maths we need to do isn't all too bad here, it just takes a lot of practice because unfortunately it's one of these subjects in which if you're not naturally good at it takes a lot of studying to get good at, but it's nowhere near impossible to get good at it! Space is neat, really neat, and the physics behind it is the best shit to learn about, and yea i agree 100% with that!
User avatar #172 - thepandaking (04/25/2014) [-]
yeah I'm at a university in the US, you're right it isn't so bad but I just need to work harder at setting time aside for studying math. I'm fine with studying concepts and stuff like in Astronomy or whatever but when it gets into the mathematics, I need some extra time just to be sure I learn it. Anyway that's encouraging though, thanks for that.
#173 - mca (04/25/2014) [-]
Just be thankful you're not doing theoretical physics or just a physics degree in general, got some friends who are on a theoretical physics course and last year they had literally double the number of mathematics courses that i had. Read over one of said friends' notebooks whilst in a physics lecture, got 3 pages in before i found the first number. That kinda maths just doesn't register with me at all. But no worries, good luck with your studies and everything man
#174 - thepandaking (04/25/2014) [-]
thanks, but now that kind of scares me. See I want to go into Astronomy, and be a researcher, but my university doesn't have an Astronomy major, so they suggested I go with a regular Physics major and Astronomy minor, so maybe that's why I've seen a sort-of scary amount of math courses heading my way. I may have to take another look, but I think this is my only choice or best choice, since it might be harder to get a job if I have specifically an Astronomy major. bah I don't know I'll have to talk to an adviser about that lol
Anyway thanks, good luck to you too man
#180 - mca (04/25/2014) [-]
I spoke to my advisor about the same thing really last year. Didn't know whether to do Physics with Astrophysics (75% phyics 25% astronomy) or physics with astronomy (50/50) or just stick with Theoretical physics. Was worried about job prospects, and like you i ideally see myself as a researcher in astronomy, and didn't know which course looks more appealing to employers. He said that the course/degree title would hardly phase an employer in the astro field so long as your physics knowledge is proven to be good as astronomy is essentially applied physics. Essentially as long as you prove your knowledge of physics to an employer, you still have a good shot in the astro field, the astronomy specialisations are really just the sprinkles on the cupcake. So my advise would be the physics major and astro minor dont really understand the whole major/minor thing in america because it'll open doors to almost any job that requires mathematics and logical thinking
User avatar #181 - thepandaking (04/25/2014) [-]
Yeah you're right it's probably my best be to stick with that. Well seriously thanks, it's good to hear some insight on it that really helps. Good luck on the rest of your classes, I hope that works out for you.

What makes you think Pluto has an atmosphere? It has a temporary one when close enough to the sun, but it would surely kill you if you were to breath in the gases that make up this so called atmosphere. Plus, Pluto is tiny, and smaller than some of the moons that orbit our other 8 planets.
#16 - KPatorx (04/24/2014) [-]
Because, while Jupiter is roughly 1400 times larger than Earth, Pluto is slightly smaller in square kilometers than Russia. The sun, on the other hand, is a ball of gas bigger than Jupiter that constantly goes through nuclear fusion and fission, providing energy for the entire solar system, so it's a star.
#47 - ennemi (04/24/2014) [-]
The reason pluto isn't a planet is because there's a shit load of other body in its orbit and those body amount to a shit load more mass than pluto.
#15 - tksparty (04/24/2014) [-]
You should probably just look up the definition of a planet before you started typing drivel. You basically posted the space version of "how are whales not fish, I mean they live in the sea and stuff, why are eels fish and not snakes" or something. Just because you don't know/understand doesn't make it stupid.
User avatar #93 - psykobear (04/25/2014) [-]
Also, definition of a planet:

1. object in orbit round star: an astronomical object that orbits a star and does not shine with its own light, especially one of those orbiting the Sun in the solar system
User avatar #90 - psykobear (04/25/2014) [-]

the suns a star man, theres a difference. but someone told me the other day that theres a shit tonne of rocks in our solar system the same size as pluto, so its more to exclude them as being planets. and also that the moon is bigger than pluto.
