No, the message France sent was after the shooting. The men who committed this shooting did so for one political motive, to "show that people can not mock Islam without consequence". They want the people of the world to fear making fun of Islam. Following the shooting the French people have made it very clear with their support that they will not be bullied around by armed men.

If we do what you say, we are letting the terrorists win. The main objective of a terrorist organization is to cause chaos domestically as well as internationally by means of attrition. The only way to combat this sort of terrorism other than sacrificing privacy for security (not always a good option) is to not let them faze us. In the end, all actions that terrorists send are messages. This was a big one, but the French people sent an even bigger one back.

The entire point of free speech is that there should be no consequences. Charlie Hebdo from what I understand is a newspaper with a very rich history that includes having links to a news group that acted as a catalyst for the French Revolution. Charlie Hebdo should be able to publish satirical content on any group that they feel so long as it does not infringe upon another's rights. When it comes to human rights, you don't pull your punches.

True. But we at the moment do not live in a world where people can say whatever they want and get away with it. This attack is proof of that and until Terrorism is completely gone from this world (which I don't think is ever going to happen), we should at least think about what we say. Why is it that people troll only on the internet and not in front of peoples faces. Because you can easily get away with it online. In reality, you call a person a cunt or something like that in real life, you can sometimes get the police on you.

Just like I said before. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
