brackets and parenthesis are clearly the same thing, but the reason these calculators get different answers is the order you multiply or divide.

it's because one distributes rather than finish the operations inside of the parenthesis or because it did the multiplication and division backwards, order of operations say to always work from the right to the left.
correct:
6/2(1+2)
6/2(3) or 6/2 *3
3*3
9

wrong:
6/2(1+2)
6/(2+4)
6/6
1

or

6/2(1+2)
6/2*3
6/6
1

actually you do parentheses exponents division/multiplication (left to right) addition/subtraction (left to right) however your answer was correct but you explained it wrong.
