isn't that like experimentally proven?
an arrow goes through materials bullets cannot penetrate. That's pure physics - bullet is just too light to carry over enough energy despite speeds

When it comes to penetration utilising kinetic energy bullets have the advantage due to their speed however on softer materials which disperse the kinetic energy of a projectile an arrow with a sharp broadhead may be more effective because it can cut through the material but on harder materials like steel bullets almost always have an advantage this is also why they stopped wearing armour during the 18th century because even the simple bullets from a musket could easily penetrate a steel cuirass. For arrows it is nearly impossible to penetrate a steel cuirass except when using heavy war arrows with armor piercing bodkins heads fired from bows of over 100 pounds draw weight and then only at close range (<40m)

True...but no one made it back from the Salyut 1 alive (though the crew was killed on re-entry rather than in the station) and then it fell out of orbit and the Salyut 2 fell out of orbit before ever having a crew. Skylab had several different crews who lived on the station and who survived to make it back to Earth. Out of those I would call Skylab the first successful station (especially since it lasted until 1979 before falling out of orbit instead of falling out of orbit in a matter of months.)

However I would point out that the US has the first craft which have made it into Interstellar space and is the Scientific lead in exploring other planets (Mar's satellites and rovers as well as flybys of outer planets.)

#25 - rdobet (01/18/2014) [-]
They're both right at least as far as both being words are concerned.

Contrails are... you already know what contrails are.

Chemtrails however are what conspiracy nuts believe are contrails are being used to control/poison/kill/sterilize/whatever the population through chemical means, or something. It's most likely bullshit, but the guy's wording wasn't wrong.
User avatar #23 - KINGOFTHESTARS (01/18/2014) [-]
in this guy's defense, hes talking about the strange chemicals that linger nowadawys after planes pass.

this is a part of a conspiracy theory that the govt is testing on us.
the chem trails have been tested to have several chemicals in them that are harmful and fall steadily from the sky.

accounts from older people say the contrails used to dissappear and not linger.
#50 - gilfhunter (01/18/2014) [-]
Contrails have been known to persist for hours even as far back as 1919. This photo is form 1958
#48 - Absolute Madman (01/18/2014) [-]
chemtrails and contrails are very different. Contrails are from the change in temperature from the cold air and the hot exhaust of the plane. Chemtrails are sprayed purposely and they do exist, i see them all the time, contrails leave after a few seconds, chemtrails turn into artificial clouds. Apparently their purpose is to block the sun's rays to "stop global warming" but the aluminum oxide is known to lower sperm count and sterilize men
#27 - rdobet (01/18/2014) [-]
fuck, of course four hours after his post, someone has to explain at the same time I do.
#26 - reteip (01/18/2014) [-]
contrails can linger for several hours and in busy airspaces this can cause a criss cross pattern but it is nothing less than water that comes out of an engine of an aircraft as a gas and then condenses to form contrails. There is no scientific evidence whatsoever to suggest that 'chemtrails exist'

Actually we both appear to be right, it varies by species of rattlesnake. Some have neurotoxic venom while others have venom that has characteristics of both hemo and neurotoxic venom. The rattlers in my area have a more neurotoxic venom. So yeah, venomous snakes have a wide variety species and each one seems to have its own unique blend. Learn something new everyday.

Um, actually no.

Chemtrails do exist. Chemtrails spread out like such.

Contrails are barely visible after a couple of seconds to a minute.
#65 - Absolute Madman (01/07/2014) [-]
uh, it depends on wind, and humidity. so... no those are not chemtrails, just the atmospheric conditions that day made the contrails react like that

fucking retards
#88 - Absolute Madman (01/07/2014) [-]
I personally observed several planes over the course of a day, some had "contrails" and some didn't. I even saw one turn the spraying on and off while in flight, please explain that. I don't buy your theory about it just being the atmospheric conditions that day.

Contrails can exist for up to several hours and can be several miles accross those ''chemtrails'' in the picture are just lingering contrails from a couple of aircraft in a busy airspace.
User avatar #56 - sparkyfusion (01/07/2014) [-]
