User avatar #46 - retardedboss (10/06/2013) [-]
I've read all the books that are out. ASOS implied she died. ADWD confirms she did not. It also helps my theory that characters that "die" in the first person don't tend to stay dead. EX: Bran Cat Brienne Asha.
User avatar #102 - kinginthenorth (10/06/2013) [-]
Except none of these died in their respective POV chapters
Cat "died" in a rumor/report to Tywin (?) or someone else
Bran "died" because Theon thought so (or wanted to think so)
Brienne is pretty much the only one that "died" in her own POV chapters
Hell, Robb died in Cat's POV. Wich made it a lot sadder...
User avatar #104 - retardedboss (10/06/2013) [-]
Cat had her throat slit in her POV. If that's not dying I don't know what is. the one I'm talking about for Bran is in the first book when Jaime pushes him. You could argue that it didn't imply he died and you would have a point, but it helps my theory. You bring up the fact that Robb died from Cat's POV, and he stays dead. Also you neglected to mention Asha. She "dies" in her POV as well.
#106 - kinginthenorth (10/06/2013) [-]
I'm gonna be honest and say i haven't read the 5th book, wich might explain why i fail to mention Asha, the greyjoy Asha, i'm assuming.
Technically Cat did de in her own POV, but she was brought back with the Red Priest's OP healing magic
User avatar #138 - retardedboss (10/06/2013) [-]
Oh, sorry for spoilers then.

No spoilers for ADWD, but for all the other books Yeah, she was brought back in a different POV, but that's not my point. My point is people who die in the first person have a tendency to not stay dead.
#140 - kinginthenorth (10/06/2013) [-]
I love how everyone is like "SPOILERSSS"
Hell, everyone dies, i'm surprised anyone is surprised if someone dies.
I wasn't even amazed when Tywin died, i almost expected him

Thank you for the logical explanation.
Personally I use both systems depending on what the subject matter is.
So for height and weight I'd use Imperial.
Distance I tend to use both.
User avatar #55 - retardedboss (10/04/2013) [-]
Yeah, the only time I ever use metric is when I'm doing something like physics or chemistry type stuff. Being that I'm an American, the imperial system is what I've known all my life. Naturally it comes easier than the metric system.

The metric system also lacks an increment similar to a foot, leaving an awkward gap between a decimeter and a meter. At least, that's how my brain perceives it.

I suppose it's a logical assumption to make.
User avatar #38 - Silver Quantum (10/04/2013) [-]
besides being too lazy to learn a new measurement system, what possible reason could they have to dislike the metric system considering it's superior to the imperial one in every way?
User avatar #41 - postie (10/04/2013) [-]
Maybe the UK didn't want to change its system of measurement?
The vast majority of the British public still use the Imperial units for distance, body weight, height and volume.

In all seriousness though, what makes it so superior?
User avatar #80 - rockamekishiko (10/04/2013) [-]
metric is simpler to use with everything. There is absolutely NO need to over-complicate measurements and calculations by using something like the English system
User avatar #82 - postie (10/04/2013) [-]

It has a more logical progression because the units are all exponentially related. Other than that though, it really doesn't matter. On a daily basis you don't have to make the kind of conversions that the metric system excels at.

Unless you're a scientist or doing something that requires precise measurements it doesn't really matter which system you use.

They don't get praised as much as the simpsons or family guy, but honestly I think its better than family guy by a longshot and it could be on par with the simpsons given enough time to mature. But no, sadly, Futurama doesn't get as much attention as it should.
