And if your internet goes down due to someone crashing into the transformers or some other random-such reason? If your internet goes down, or you have to stop paying for it due to unforseen financial issues, you're left with a pretty badass looking paperweight.
User avatar #509594 - reretzu (06/12/2013) [-]
Be honest here, how often does your internet go down? Even the cheap ass stuff I get has only been down for over 24 hours few enough times the last couple of years for me to not even notice it, for most people, especially the target audience, this won't be a problem at all.

You'd have to get into some deep financial shit to not be able to afford internet, at least with the prices where I live, it's almost like running water to people here and I don't know anyone on this college who ever lost that much, and it's a big college.
User avatar #509639 - screamingcabbage (06/12/2013) [-]
''You'd have to get into some deep financial shit to not be able to afford internet, at least with the prices where I live''
That's exactly why everyone's disagreeing with you
Not everyone's internet is cheap
User avatar #509652 - reretzu (06/12/2013) [-]
Everyone isn't the target audience, most of us have stable internet otherwise we wouldn't be on this site.
#509657 - screamingcabbage (06/12/2013) [-]
I'm talking about everyone on this website that is seeing what bullshit you're talking about.
Also, Microsoft going after a 'target audience' is making them loose a lot more money

''Arguments aren't easy to win and not always turn to your favor, what the fuck are you on man? ''
I know this, you're making it hard to argue at all! Because you don't know what the fuck you're talking about, if I say something, you'll reply ''No, it's not like that.'' when my sources just told me it fucking is!
''I have probably been arguing with you for the past 30 mins or even more, and all of your points on Microsoft is helping developers with 24 hour check is 100% bullshit, for all the points you have said that it is supposed to help the developers, the developers knew what the fuck they were doing beforehand anyways. ''
This is exactly what I'm talking about: ''All your points are bullshit.'' Here's my argument: ''All your points are bullshit.'' We can't argue because we disagree on facts, whether or not this is differing sources or something else, it makes it impossible for us to say anything else than: ''You're wrong.'' Now I trust my sources more than you, just like you probably trust yours more than me, which means that we're not going to get anywhere.
''If you really can't take insults in an argument, over the fucking internet, where no one even bloody knows or has seen you in real life. Make yourself look neutral in an argument, and don't be favoring Microsofts side and keep on blabbering on about the same 'microsoft is helping developers' bullshit when they're not implementing xbox indie games into xbox one ''
I take insults just fine thank you, what annoys me is when I'm offered nothing but an insult and people agree more with the guy insulting me even though he didn't have a single valid point and didn't even try to make one.
Also, I am neutral in this, I think both Microsoft and Sony have presented fine consoles of equal potential, I'm just arguing for Microsoft because as you can fucking see, there is a slight bias against Microsoft. I'm arguing for the console not being bat-shit terrible, not for it being better than the PS4.

If there is bullshit on this site it's the fucking Microsoft hate circlejerk, it's the people that use half arguments or just don't know what the fuck they're talking about to justify hating even more. It's people who make a big deal out things that won't affect them at all, much less the target audience and people who act like this is the big deal breaker on what console is better.
It's people who act like one side has better exclusives than the other, as if it wasn't based on subjective opinions and thoughts, people who act like someone who supports the other side are spewing bullshit and acting like ''damn whores'' whether or not they have arguments, people who'll insult you before responding to your arguments and act like they've already won.
I like to argue which is exactly why I'm here, I share my thoughts and arguments on the side of the X0ne in hope of some fun and healthy discussions, but some damn people here are not making it easy.
I'm not trying to insult anyone, everyone here seems to be nice and reasonably intelligent people, but on this one issue I just can't fucking stand it. I lost five levels sharing my thoughts and I'll lose five more for this post alone.

Just to finally add, I'm not favoring any side, but Xbox is going down the wrong road for only going for a ''target auidience' when they really are supposed to be going to the consumers, who is every gamer in the entire world, not middle/higher-class kids who are living off their parents money
If you really can't take insults in an argument, over the fucking internet, where no one even bloody knows or has seen you in real life. Maybe it's just the principal, then.. No one likes dealing with these sorts of restrictions, and were such an emergency or crisis to happen, again, you'd have a paperweight. I do take my xbox to various locations as much as possible to enjoy playing with my friends. Parties and such, and we stay for days, and this wouldn't be possible with the Xbox One due to their obsessive need for control.
User avatar #509597 - reretzu (06/12/2013) [-]
Around were me and my friends live, there's internet everywhere, all of my friends have it, every party we've been at had it, hell my grandma's house has it.

Still, I can see where you're coming from not wanting this, I just don't feel it'll affect me or so many others at all enough to make a deal this size out of it.
User avatar #509600 - lordnerevar (06/12/2013) [-]
They aren't going to allow this, actually. You can play your game at your friends house for an hour before Microsoft makes you stop or go home in order to play it again, apparently.
User avatar #509603 - reretzu (06/12/2013) [-]
An hour without an internet check, as long as your friend has any sort of weak internet this shouldn't be a problem.
User avatar #509608 - lordnerevar (06/12/2013) [-]
Unless they do some sort of bullshit IP registry. Honestly, for me, it's the principal of the matter. I don't want an all-around entertainment system. I want a gaming console. All their restrictions and hidden fees and under-handed tactics just don't sit well with me. I know a great deal of people who dislike playing their xbox online, anyway. These people should be allowed to play like this if they choose, but are now getting shafted. It's a dirty business they're running, hand in hand with EA (which was voted worst company in America, by the way).

Every company loves and needs money, Microsoft are really walking on thin ice, isolating your customers because they have bad internet is the stupidest thing you could do, and they could easily prevent that by removing the bloody 24 hour check
User avatar #509541 - reretzu (06/12/2013) [-]
Which would make it a damn lot harder to regulate used games using their current system and therefore end up with a lot less money going to the developers, who directly asked Microsoft for this feature.
It will also make it harder for developers to constantly update and support games and discourage several kinds of games that could be viable with the new 24 hour check.

#509542 - screamingcabbage (06/12/2013) [-]
The checks are NOTHING for developers
All the developers have to do is do what ever patch they're doing, and let Microsoft do the rest
Hell, the more people playing whatever game, the better, if there wasn't that 24 hour check.
More people= more glitches and bugs found and reported= more stable game
Developers are dependent on gamers to help them bring a smooth experience while playing a game, not the other way around
I'm not even sure what the hell you mean by ''while the 24 hour checks are mainly for developers, it will be a great step in letting the developers use this to support gamers a damn lot more.''

If we look away from the fact that the checks will help regulate used games which will make sure developers get the full money for their games, it'll still make new kinds of games much more viable, allowing developers to experiment.
Game modes such as Spartan Ops will become a lot more normal now that they know everyone who has the console and the game can play the new stages and see the next part of the story, hell, the whole concept can become more used on episodic games and similar concepts.
Also, single player games can put a focus on dynamic events and quests, allowing for a kind of single player experience that can be great and constantly updated in a way we haven't seen before.

It will allow developers to much easier and more constantly update, fix and support games for the X0ne and make new types of games much more commonly.

They're not the target audience.

Internet is something you pay for, not just for X-box but also other things such as the PC you're using right now, it's like including the price of water when buying a sink and saying it's overpriced, the X0ne will be a one time payment that honestly isn't incredibly expensive. Live isn't very expensive either, and does give other benefits than just playing online, which will probably increase.
And again, while the 24 hour checks are mainly for developers, it will be a great step in letting the developers use this to support gamers a damn lot more.

''I like to argue which is exactly why I'm here''
''but some damn people here are not making it easy. ''
Arguments aren't easy to win and not always turn to your favor, what the fuck are you on man?
''people who'll insult you before responding to your arguments and act like they've already won. ''
I have probably been arguing with you for the past 30 mins or even more, and all of your points on Microsoft is helping developers with 24 hour check is 100% bullshit, for all the points you have said that it is supposed to help the developers, the developers knew what the fuck they were doing beforehand anyways.
Make yourself look neutral in an argument, and don't be favoring Microsofts side and keep on blabbering on about the same 'microsoft is helping developers' bullshit when they're not implementing xbox indie games into xbox one
User avatar #509679 - reretzu (06/12/2013) [-]
Again, I'm not trying to insult anyone, you're nice people! All of you, but trying to argue this with you is like writing your own death sentence!
User avatar #509596 - lordnerevar (06/12/2013) [-]

User avatar #509526 - fivewordminimum (06/12/2013) [-]
Money doesn't equal stable internet. There are areas where the internet drops for absolutely no reason, no matter how much you pay.
User avatar #509532 - reretzu (06/12/2013) [-]
Of course, but there are few where this will happen constantly and for over 24 hours, Microsoft simply has to focus more on it's target audience and leave the few isolated cases like this out.
User avatar #509540 - screamingcabbage (06/12/2013) [-]
Every company loves and needs money, Microsoft are really walking on thin ice, isolating your customers because they have bad internet is the stupidest thing you could do, and they could easily prevent that by removing the bloody 24 hour check
User avatar #509541 - reretzu (06/12/2013) [-]
Which would make it a damn lot harder to regulate used games using their current system and therefore end up with a lot less money going to the developers, who directly asked Microsoft for this feature.
It will also make it harder for developers to constantly update and support games and discourage several kinds of games that could be viable with the new 24 hour check.
#509545 - screamingcabbage (06/12/2013) [-]
''It will also make it harder for developers to constantly update and support games and discourage several kinds of games that could be viable with the new 24 hour check.''
That seriously makes no sense what so ever
Developers had 0 problems with updating games other than money problems, and what bloody games would they be 'discouraging'?
User avatar #509549 - reretzu (06/12/2013) [-]
If there is ever a major game flaw that isn't discovered before launch, now developers can be sure that the whole of gaming community will get a fix.
And it'll sure help them with money problems too and other kinds of game fixes too.
I've already explained what kind of games it'll discourage.
User avatar #509556 - screamingcabbage (06/12/2013) [-]
I feel like i'm a broken record here
Yet again, online checks do nothing for major game flaws before launch, because once the audience find out about the flaw, the developers will, and they'll jump straight to the problem and try to fix it, like Diablo 3 for example
And it still doesn't help them with any money problems, hell, you don't even know yourself if it will help them or not
User avatar #509533 - fivewordminimum (06/12/2013) [-]
No. No they don't. They don't need to incorporate this in any fashion. "Leaving isolated cases out" is not a good business model.
User avatar #509537 - reretzu (06/12/2013) [-]
If they'd rather help developers, a lot, and try to improve the experience for absolutely everyone else.
Hell, by helping out all of the developers here I think they're helping out more people than those in the isolated cases.
User avatar #509522 - bananarking (06/12/2013) [-]
That doesn't make it ok
User avatar #509523 - reretzu (06/12/2013) [-]
Oh? So Microsoft should not implement this feature in an attempt to make gaming easier and better for both developers and gamers because once in a blue moon it'll affect a few people?
User avatar #509524 - bananarking (06/12/2013) [-]
Are you retarded? How does this possibly make it easier for gamers?
And alot of people lives in third-world countries where internet goes off often
Have to pay to play online on Xbox (Despite already paying for xbox and internet) + Have to have a 24 hour check on games = HURR THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER
User avatar #509531 - reretzu (06/12/2013) [-]

User avatar #509543 - screamingcabbage (06/12/2013) [-]
Also, on console, developers have to pay $40,000 to publish a SINGLE patch on xbox
Why do you think Awesomenauts was more less never updated since release on xbox?
User avatar #509546 - reretzu (06/12/2013) [-]
If we look away from the fact that the checks will help regulate used games which will make sure developers get the full money for their games, it'll still make new kinds of games much more viable, allowing developers to experiment.
Game modes such as Spartan Ops will become a lot more normal now that they know everyone who has the console and the game can play the new stages and see the next part of the story, hell, the whole concept can become more used on episodic games and similar concepts.
Also, single player games can put a focus on dynamic events and quests, allowing for a kind of single player experience that can be great and constantly updated in a way we haven't seen before.
#509552 - screamingcabbage (06/12/2013) [-]
They checks aren't going to regulate used games because your game will be locked onto your console/account
Episodic shit has 0% on anything to do with the online checks, they were alright as they were on Xbox 360, and episodic shit is just an overall bad idea imo when the story, like Spartan Ops, is pretty weak as shit and the gameplay was just repetitive
And single player games were and still are meant to be an OFFLINE EXPERIENCE, hence the name SINGLEPLAYER
You really are just licking Microsofts boots, trying to make them shine
Also, if they're helping developers so much, why did they not put in indie support on Xbox One?
