Nah the actual fastest shift in climate we have recorded evidence for was the transition from snowball Earth to hothouse in less than 20 thousand years about 600 million years ago, before complex multicellular life even existed.


The planet had been absorbing more CO2 than it released for billions of years after it formed, which slowly cooled the planet until it began to freeze surface water, which reflected more of the suns heat back out into space, which cooled the temperature further, etc until everything was frozen, even the equator. The average temperature of the Earth was about -50 degrees celsius, with the poles sitting at around 120 below and the tropics a balmy -30.


However, it wasn't a permanent freeze over. The moment the oceans completely froze over, the planet lost all ability to reabsorb CO2 out of the atmosphere, since the main mechanism for CO2 absorbtion requires it to dissolve into liquid water then react with minerals to form limestone. No dissolving into water means the CO2 began to build up, but with the entire planet covered in ice and therefore reflecting so much heat and light, it couldn't re melt the ice right away.


Over millions of years the CO2 built up and built up, reaching much higher levels than what exists today, but the high reflectivity of the planet kept everything frozen, until a tipping point was reached. It eventually got just barely warm enough at the equator that some small amount of ice melted, which set off the chain reaction immediately. Ice has a very high albedo, but water is highly transparent, which means that if it gets deep enough it will absorb the light and convert it to heat extremely efficiently. Combined with the amount of insulation by the CO2 in the air, the process of melting water and absorbing heat took off like crazy, and within a few thousand years not only did all the ice on the entire planet melt, the temperature kept on climbing, until the average temperature reached 55 degrees celcius above zero. For humans at this time, the north pole would feel like Florida, 35 degrees C and humid, while the tropics would literally be deadly at more than 60 degrees.
