Exactly. Aang changed his hair more than his personality.
#45 - atomicjojo (02/16/2015) [-]
You kidding? are you kidding me? he never regressed between seasons like korra did, he went from a naive as fuck wishy washy stubborn kid who could never do any wrong to a warrior who fought for what he knew was right. the entirety of season 2 of korra wouldn't have happened if she didn't regress what she had gained in season 1.
#59 - anonymous (02/16/2015) [-]
Aand had more charactere development in one episode than Korra in a hole season.

Even if they were small, you could see him chage from episode to episode. (Or atleast you could notice him having changed at the end of a season.)
User avatar #76 - samxdaxman (02/16/2015) [-]
Aang started higher than Korra did, so in the end, they may have ended up in the same place, but Korra started lower than he did. And it doesn't matter what would have happened because it didn't. Korra lost her memory and became not only a better person, but a better fighter, a better speaker, etc.

Even the way you put it, Aang goes from a wishy-washy kid who does no wrong... to a warrior who does no wrong. That's not THAT much development. Yes, Korra regressed but that's what happens, not all of Korra's battles were won, which made her recovery make her stronger in the end. Plus, Aang had the counsel of all the past Avatars, Korra really only had Aang for 1 season.
#97 - anonymous (02/16/2015) [-]
She didn't exactly start lower, she had thise high set image of herself being the avatar, she had a (maybe justified) arrogance, but she fell pretty hard when some episodes of the season felt like they were just there for the weird shippings.
And while Aang may have started higher please explain what Exactly you mean, I'm a little lost he still did allot of bullshit he could have prevented had he not been so damn scared of his own self (his power, being avatar. etc) And I ould not say that he ever became a warrior, he was forced to become more mature than he probably had wanted. (He's still a child afterall) He had allot of development, but only in small portions, and now always too obvious, but I kind of have the feeling allot of the characters in Korra may also have ahd that. Afterall, it was still inteded to be a kids show.
And she didn't lose all of her memories, some of them yes, but not all. And I think if they hadn't rushed to fix her amnesia and left it with her for a while as a form of hadicap she would have had to learn allot more.
It was the fault of terrible writting thought that she didn't have the other avatars anymore (I still don't get WTF they were thinking)
User avatar #100 - samxdaxman (02/16/2015) [-]
When I say Aang started higher, I mean even at a younger age he was stronger, more stable and smarter than Korra. So he started "higher"(better) than Korra and grew a little bit. Korra started very low in my eyes(insufferable bitch, weak compared to lots of benders even after all her training, etc.) but grew into an avatar almost on par with Aang. So she grew more than Aang did.

Blame Nick for the rushed writing of season 2, they screwed them over far more than LoK deserved. If it wasn't for how erratic Nick acted with the production, then I believe Korra could have been on par with TLA. But, that doesn't matter because they were psychotic bitches with the production and rushed Mike and Bryan into 4 separate seasons.
#103 - anonymous (02/16/2015) [-]
I think Aang was more calmer and smarter was because of the airnomad ways. They seemed like pretty chill people, and they were pretty smart too.

Indeed, the over the top fast writting in order to shit out every season was terrible. I bet if they had had more time it would have been tens of times better than how it is now.
#106 - anonymous (02/16/2015) [-]
Actually, I think Korra reminds me of that other Water bender avatar, not much but a little, he thought to high of himself and in the end he lost allot. (His love, and Korra well...I think you know)

Non sword n' shield melee characters are just fairly tough for the AI to use correctly, so no, you probably aren't doing anything wrong. Basically, dual dagger rogues and two-handed warriors are ludicrously active classes that the party AI just can't keep up with. I don't even think an overhauled tactics system would help that much.

#17 - dzimo (01/22/2015) [-]
brave is a good movie. but at the first glance you tend to focus more on merida than on the sotry as a whole. especially with that accent
User avatar #16 - tvfreakuk (01/22/2015) [-]
From what I heard about production, a lot of the script was changed half way through production - so it feels like two films have been smushed together.
In all, I thought it was okay - but I saw this gif set recently of Merida and her mother during different points in the film that I didn't notice before of them them subtly doing and saying the same thing
"How will you know if you don't try it?" - Mother says it during argument at the table, and Merida says it to mambear when she won't eat fish
Or how the mother walks elegantly through all the fighting Scotsman near the start of the film, and Merida doing the same thing when she gives her speech.

There were a couple more, but when I watched it I was like "wooooah"; it made the film slightly more impressive. I love when films do little things like that.

Indeed, end of a show is never going to please anybody, people would have said Zuko reuniting with Iroh (which could have either been done as a truncated sidenote, or a large chunk of or its own whole episode) was an unnecessary nod, considering people were apparently annoyed when Iroh resurfaced in LoK.
Following up on Bolin's lava bending or relationship status would have been similar, but would have most likely been criticized as clunky and forced alongside Varrik and ZhuLi. I feel like he used it a reasonable amount after discovering it, firebenders who can lightning bend don't do it constantly.
Resolving Korra's disconnection from her past lives would have been a similar issue to Zuko/Iroh, either abbreviating it or dedicating a greater chunk or story would have met criticism.
Without being aware of the apparently strong Korrasami shipping (aside from the occasional NSFW stumbleupons, which I didn't see more of than Peach/Rosalina and any other combination of cartoon/videogame girls) I had noticed a couple things in the show that played the line between friendship and subtle moresothan, top of my head I remember Korra only writing to Asami, apologizing to her for being gone so long or something, liking her hair... little stuff that I remember and claim in no way to be concrete evidence.

I didn't have a dog in the fight, only relationship I was interested to see more of was Bolin and Eska out of morbid curiosity, I thought it was a nice and simple closing, I didn't feel it was either totally telegraphed or completely out of left field. I do think people are spending way too much time squabbling over it, but it's the internet, it's gon'happen.
you can't make everyone happy, you can only work somewhere between a completely neutral reaction and a pool of positive/negative response, hopefully with a greater amount of satisfied than unsatisfied viewers.
I liked Last Airbender, I liked Legend of Korra

As far as the sock, I would not be opposed to a graphic novel
User avatar #4 - pkmnexplain (01/05/2015) [-]
Excuuuuuuse me?
Sokka had so much more Character development than Bolin it's insane
Probably because the original serie had twice the episodes for each season, so that's understandable, but saying that they have the same character development is almost an insult.

Technology can develop very fast. Just think about everything that happened in the last 70 years in our world. I even think it's more logical the world of Avatar develops faster than ours. We need to come up with a very detailed plan to operate a giant mecha suit. They just do it with bending, so they skip alot of steps we still have to make.

I'd place Aang just before the Industrial Era and Korra sometime after.

Season 2 was weak, but I think that Avatar Wan's story was the best thing in LoK, period.

"Just gonna fucking steal some goddamn fire bending from the Lion Turtle so I can finally steal from those rich assholes who live on top of a mountain.
Shit now I'm banished into the Spirit Wilds."

Can't really say I cared deeply about Korra's development, but the history of the Avatar universe? Fuck yeah.
User avatar #35 - ojezcola (12/24/2014) [-]
Exactly.
#13 - samxdaxman (12/24/2014) [-]
In general, I agree, with Season 3 as an exception. TLA had on average around 20 episodes per season, meanwhile LoK had about 12-14 per season. That's 8-6 episodes worth of content just taken out. If they had those extra episodes, then LoK definitely could have been just as good, if not better than TLA.

On the subject of the fight scenes, I feel like LoK did worse in general, but there were some REALLY epic fights that blew TLA out of the water, one of those being the S3 final fight between The Red Lotus and the Korra gang. Also, you're ignoring the rest of that fight between Tenzin and Zaheer and how fucking awesome it was.

I tend to judge shows based on character development and scenes that make me go "HOLY SHIT WHAT THE FUCK". While TLA had more development(again, due to more episodes), LoK had more HOLY SHIT moments than TLA, or at least as far as I can remember.
User avatar #6 - RoxasKH (12/24/2014) [-]
That's probably possible since they made a comic to continue A:TLA

Good work my minion. You have pleased me quite a bit. It does not matter if her 'talent' and 'emotion' are no longer a part of her then that does not matter. Be sure to grab Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner as well. We could use their fan bases to 'capture' more members.

As for the spy, good job, but work quickly. We do not want this spy to spread the word about what we were up to, now do we?

I apologize for not being easy to reach, as I do not frequent this site very often. I shall make note to check it every day. What I do use more often is Skype or MSN. I tend to use these forms of communication daily. As well as websites other than this one.

Master, I have important news. I have discovered our spy. I was horrified to find out, but not completely surprised. It was none other then one of ou own, one among the council: Ron Weasley.
What should I do with him, my master?
User avatar #4 to #3 - trollsinmycloset (12/14/2011) [-]
Good job my loyal Soul Taker. I have found that I can rely on you quite well these days. You have done well.

As for Ron Weasley, the council shall seek to confront him on this matter. Shall the council feel that punishment is necessary, they shall do as they see fit. If he was only spying to learn information, that will be fine, he will never leave the organization with that information... But if he had been spying with the intent of spreading information about the inner workings of the cult, then he shall be taken care of.

Go forth, my pet. Make me proud. >:)

Master, I started my hunt for he who is called Taylor Lautner. However, due to leaked information, he knew I was coming, so he fled to Peru. It is quite difficult to locate him here, for he has hid himself between the alpaca's. It is quite a challenge to keep him apart from these animals. However, I will catch him, do not worry. I will not fail.

What is the progress in the Weasly case, my lord?

Weasley has been found guilty of betraying the High Counsel. He is to be stripped of his honour and his position. He will be confined in our dungeons for some time while we repair for a memory re-write and a reassignment of his talents.

As for Taylor Lautner, keep going strong my pet. I know that you are the only one who can accomplish this task. *kisses cheek* I trust you will use your enthusiasm at my pleased disposition to work towards completing your assignments. Be quick my pet. :)

Thank you very much, my minion. I am quite pleased. While cleansing a soul is difficult, I am required to know how to perform such a task for my post as Soul Keeper.
One day, when you are more experienced and well trained, you shall learn this technique as well.
