Depends what level of physics you're in. If you want a master in Civ.Eng, sure, you only need to remember formulas, but if you have actual physics, you have to make your own formulas.

The Hobbit and LotR is the archetype for classic Fantasy, Leviathan is good for some action-steampunk (Especially if you want something less ancient than the others), The Great Gatsby is a timeless classic about the twenties, Alice in Wonderland is another fantasy classic (Although not so much an orthodox one).
