As far as i am concerned, the best city you can visit in Russia is Saint Petersburg (especially if you are a Dostoevsky fan as myself). I could give you a fast brief about why exactly, but i certainly believe that you can find it on the internet with much more information and different opinions provided.

Amerifag here. I don't get to talk to Russians in an environment like this often, usually it's just someone yelling at me in War Thunder not calling out Russians specifically, everyone is like that in War Thunder , so I'm hoping you'll indulge me a little.

Curious what your opinion of Putin is.

Personally, and I know I don't hold the popular nor uncommon opinion, but I respect Putin a lot. I'm not for everything he does, but I can't point out a single leader in history where I can say I was 100% behind them. Putin seems to be far better at foreign relations than our dipshit president Obama. Looking at you, Syrian conflict.

I'm highly conflicted about Crimea, also curious what your thoughts are on that.

As far as I'm concerned Putin is the closest we'll ever see to a James Bond villain. He's eccentric at times, at least to outsiders, has varied hobbies and interests that he publicly is willing to show, and his ultimate goals are hard to guess. And he's in control of one of the most powerful militaries in the world, so there's that. Don't misunderstand me, this is a compliment.

Thanks for your time.

Well, evem though the question wasn't address to me, I hope u don't mind if i answer, since there is no reply and I'am currently living in Russia.
1) My attitude towards Putin is positive - the level of life has become better since the time Soviet Union collapsed, I don't see him as a tyran or villain - no, he is just straight forward and know how to be strict, no messing around - and I respect that. But it should be mentioned that here are also ppl who don't like him, but, come on - there are always ppl who are not satisfied with the ruler, even is Jesus himself became the president there would be ppl who'd say that he gained this post cause of family connections with God.
2) Well, I am subjective here as far as i can't trust media for sure, however - crimean ppl wanted to joined Russia, there were many meetings in Crimea and many ppl were with russian flags (still can be some russian spies or smth, idk). Through our social network VKontakte there are still arguments concerning this question, but what makes me feel right about Russian policy here that the ppl complainin are Ukraineans, not Crimean - so they must be satisfied with the current position.

Hope it was helpful

Socially... Well, can't say much either. Tourists are treated well here, that I know for sure (unless you're going to visit some shithole). People seem grumpy so don't be surprised when you'll see whole Moscow being super serious , but they actually aren't and some may be really talkative.

Eurofag here, it's good to hear the living standard for the inhabitants are still going well within Russia. Most of the news here tells us your country is going into the wrong direction, and you people are going to suffer because of this. Especially in my country (netherlands), that blames your country for the involvement for the "MH17" airplane crash incident.

But still I do feel bad for this because most of the inhabitants in your country can't do nothing about the situation, and that you're getting punished by inflation because of embargoes. But we only can hope the situation will slimmer down, and that the Ukraine thing wouldn't escalate further so relations will getting better in the long run. Its nice to hear things are still going well within Russia.

Food getting slightly more expensive because sanctions. Don't want to pay for stuff which price is set in USD because it costs 1,5 times more (wanted to buy This War of Mine on HumbleBundle, instead of 600 rubles it now costs 1000, pirated it).
Otherwise it's okay, I guess. Dunno what Europe and America think about conditions here, but life is pretty good in Moscow and other big cities.

I personally don't do much. I mostly sit and watch.
With their "influence" spreads the awareness. Feminists will not be gone. I will remind you again: Sarkeesian was on YouTube talking about damsels and getting those shekels before the whole GG thing. Now she will just pop-up when something happens in the game industry and throw in her five cents. It doesn't matter if GG exists for her. She will eventually come up with some other ridiculous idea for a documentary about games and women.
I may not know how publicity works, but if you expect people to stop, you will be disappointed. You can tell people not to do something all day long, it just won't work.
