The only way to avoid an endless war of attrition was to make their government fold. Don't think they wouldn't have done the same to us. They had their own nuclear program. We chose the lesser of two evils and prevented much more death and destruction.

Committing acts of terror serves so purpose. We're not going to give up because they knock down a building or blow up a sedan. It's a pointless loss of life.

They have a religious purpose. I'm an atheist but I still think that they believe what they are doing is serving their god. And I just don't give a fuck about religion so we should just leave those poor condemned people and just not care. Simple.
