You're supposed to pay for it in insurance, but bullshit Obamacare made it more expensive for everyone, and people with Obamacare get rejected from hospitals anyway. So Obama effectively raised the cost of living without actually helping anyone.

Due to a bill ratified in 1986, if a hospital deals with Medicare they have to by law take the patient regardless of their ability to pay. If the patient doesn't pay, the Hospital will pass the bill to collections, and the hospital will get a kick back from the federal government.

If you're homeless, you become a publicity stunt for a local church. If you're just poor, you pray to shit it wasn't your fault so you can front the bill on someone else's insurance works about as well as getting your own insurance to pay for anything.

The main problem with healthcare is its too much of a business model. Business relies on way to much spiteful, selfish behavior in order to succeed that it can't work on something required to ensure life and limb.

Were the police run like hospitals are run, it would be considered a "police state" similar to "The Purge" where the rich are free to call the cops for anything as simple as "some guy went past my house!" while the poor wouldnt be able to afford a call for something as extreme as a legitimate home invasion.

The way healthcare is, you get insurance, and pay onto it, supporting their business under the guise that when shit happens, you'll be able to get a return for your business. That's the "product" they supply. But then they look for loopholes, like "You were genetically more likely to get that kind of cancer, thats a pre-existong condition!" or "We'll pay you for treatment eventually. Somewhere around...when are you supposed to be dead from lack of treatment? Yeah, then.".

It all rounds back to that rewarding of spiteful and selfish behavior in business, but then you're dealing with people's lives.
