I actually know a bit of after effects.
After Effects+Photoshop manages the same look, and then some.
The only real pro-point for Live2D is that you can set up an intricate control panel thing.
It's not made for scenes you see for a few seconds that you normally see in videos.
It's made to bring motion to the kind of stills you see for hours, such as avatars and jrpg like dialouges.
Though, with the stuff that goes into it, you may as well just start out with full 3D and re-use some animations here and there,as long as the rigs are somewhat translateable.

Well, if I would make this kind of animation. it would better to make 3d model with cartoon shaders. It looks so unrealistic, so i think you could just draw on simle 3d model, and render it without shadows. etc. that should work.

I'm more in to 3d. What interest me the most in after effect are: video disords, and digital glitches, and aberrations.

yeah, though it does wonders for idle animation from the front. Might be really neat for these kinda' virtual novel thingies and faceRig, of course, but I can't think of many other uses.

The results Live2D brings are sort of weir, since it is neither completely 2d, nor completely 3d, but there is something to it. It's just hard to utilize without it appearing uncanny.
I'm just picking up animation, really, I get a lot of stuff, but this got confusing really fast.

Using it for Visual Novels would be a pretty great idea. Its already got the right theme for it. Sort of like how Nekopara Vol 0 had the ability to click the girls, this would be making that go into overdrive. It would honestly be really great.

Ifyou want do animations like this. Well...I saw some hentai and regular animations made by using adobe after effect, and it looks identical. It's called "morphing". you should teach yourself, how to animate in adobe after effect with duik plugin.
