a person looking at me wouldnt realize that i had a debilitating neurological and anxiety disorder. to everybody i look and act like a completely normal person. im not at all.
Im forced to act like a normal person so that i can have a social life. when i become overwhelmed and have to leave work i still just look like a normal person. i have a smile on my face all the time. to other people im just a lazy asshole who leaves work all the time. im inconsiderate because i forget to put things away. im a bad listener because i miss things that you say. im always taking pills for no reason. people think im a drug addict or something. even if i told people the truth they wouldn't believe me. what would i tell them? life is torture for me? im afraid of the dark? they'll think im joking. nobody wants to hear about how someone elses life is worse than theirs. do you see my dilemma? im not even close to the only person with this problem.

sorry that you have the issues that you do. i definitely understand that chronic illnesses are hell on the people who have them and the people in their lives who support them, especially hidden ones that are often misunderstood or ignored by society. my mother had misdiagnosed schizophrenia for years and the different meds the doctors had her on for years have basically fried her brain so she is now the equivalent of an alzheimer patient WITH schizophrenia- fun stuff.

i commend you for trying to live a normal life, despite the difficulty and for doing your best to continue working. many who don't have problems or have far smaller problems choose to do else wise, and those are the ones i have a problem with.

after some research i have i found that only 2.6-3.00% of welfare cases are fraud.
the government doesnt fuck around with this shit. this isnt like those weed clinics where you just walk in and say your eyes hurt and they prescribe you a pound of dank. around 75% of people who put in for welfare get denied. the number is different from state to state. the idea that people are abusing wellfare left and right is a lie. its just not possible.

3% are CAUGHT for fraud. Keep that in mind.

i know that personal experience doesn't trump statistics and i really can't be bothered to look up the info or check it, but i personally have seen far too many cases of fraud and lack of need in the welfare system. almost everyone can do something to better society and there needs to be some sort of work for welfare program to make sure that people who are being given to by the system are giving back.

there will always be people taking advantage of the system. with capitalism you have borderline slave owners and with socialism you have bums. thats why a moderated mix of both works better than each alone. more people are being helped by the welfare than people are taking advantage of it. i might go on welfare since i have a disability. people who need help are being helped even if some people are abusing the system. its a work in progress. were gonna fuck this shit up for a while before we get it right. dont give up on it yet.

the fact that people have cellphones on welfare is an amazing thing. why do people with disabilities not deserve things that others have? do poor people who cant find a job not deserve the right to use the internet? do people with drug addiction deserve to wallow in despair their whole lives? the whole point of welfare is that people get to have an actual life.

did i say they shouldn't be allowed to own cell phones? the idea of constant conspicuous consumption without personal financial means of support is what i was objecting to. my parents saw something they wanted, worked hard for it as a goal and then got it or didn't. the idea now that luxuries are necessities is the problem. no one needs the latest model of whatever tech is floating around. especially if they won't (not can't, big difference) feed themselves or their families through their own resources.

if our haphazard mix of corrupt capitalism and laissez faire pie in the sky socialism worked that way it'd be great. i have no problem with the system i feed with my taxes helping those who can't help themselves, but far to much available resources go to propping up people who won't help themselves to allow it to fully focus on those who can't.

honestly, imo, with +7.5 billion people clogging this planet, choosing to allow a few who won't help themselves wither away while helping those who can a. help society itself and/or b. helping those members of society who can't help themselves isn't necessarily a bad thing.

maybe it's just me, but most of the "which super hero's more awesome" comparisons come off that way. comics are a fun read or make decent movie material, but come on, they're fictional.
