Pretty much every semi-automatic weapon can be modified for automatic fire, whether through actually manipulating the mechanics inside, bump firing or any other way, not only the Ar-15 is modifiable.

Agreed, to a point. If you convert your weapon to automatic fire, you should still have to have the Class 3 license (I think it's called that), but it should still be legal.
