They do.... you vote for someone to vote for you (the electoral college). Politicians voting for other politicians, see the room for corruption here?

"So what you mean by big, you mean older"

No. "Big" means actually leaving a hallmark of what you do.

Michael Jackson will ALWAYS be bigger than Justin Timberlake, for example, not because he performed in a previous age, but because he is just light years better.

For instance, look at System of a Down - They are a much more recent band. They definitely left their print into metal history. Absolutely every fucking body will instantly jump when hearing the strumming intro of Chop Suey. They are also a good band - their sound is original, it's heavy, it's eclectic, it's "smart" music.
Another recent band that unfortunately, IMO, took a turn for the worst - Children of Bodom. What Alexi Laiho brought to the metal scene with the sound from albums like Follow the Reaper - THAT is metal history.
Lamb of God - another HUGE contemporary band from the New American Heavy Metal scene.

And the list honestly could go on. Might I add, you're apparently confusing "big" with "popular". Is Justin Bieber "popular"? Obviously, fucking yes. Is he a "big" musician? Not even if you bet your life on it.

FYI, I don't give a shit about mainstream (except when the mainstream effect attracts crowds of completely idiotic & retarded "fans" - THEN it gets annoying).

"Slipknot often insults religion and religious people"

Good. That's because 90% of religion deserves to be insulted, slandered, bashed and put into its place

And no, you're not a "big band" when you reach Spot X in Billboard. You're a BIG band when you fucking write music history. You're a big band when your name is Queen, Guns n Roses, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Death, Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death, Pantera, etc.

Kiddies bands like Avenged Sevenfold and whatever didn't bring shit to the music. They're just completely generic.

And from my point of view, the fact that I had to explain this simple, basic stuff just proves that I am right about you.

Big is a relative term. I deal with people every day who say that A7X and BFMV are too mainstream, so I'm sorry for assuming you were one of those assholes. So what you mean by big, you mean older. (Not saying older is a bad thing) Those are mostly 80's bands, and bigger than A7X and BFMV, I do not disagree with you there. I did not exist in the 80's and actually haven't been listening to metal for all that long. So, I will openly admit that there are plenty of people who know more than I do when it comes to metal. If that makes me stupid, then I am stupid. I just was looking for new bands to listen to. I'm sorry I don't know everything about metal.

Care to explain why those two quotes make me too stupid to insult? Maybe you misunderstood my mention of Slipknot. I like their style (mixture of screaming and strong, powerful singing), but they insult religion, which insults me. And don't go with the "oh you only like pop-metal" bullshit. I don't pay attention to how popular a band is when I listen to them. I like big bands like (and here come the red thumbs) Bullet for my Valentine and Avenged Sevenfold, and little ones like Affiance, Glamour of the Kill, and Corpus Christi.

um well I have some suggestions, not sure if there for you but you could try them.

Avenged sevenfold: decent solos, great songwriting, not sure about gritty but their singer isn't high pitched

dragonforce: incredibly fast paced riffs, their first singer is slightly higher pitched, not screamy screechy or yelling though. no religion what so ever.

All shall perish: very heavey death metal, some slight mention to religion in their first album, very good riffsa nd solos though, and their singer is about as metal, gritty and growly as humanly possible. u think lamb of gods singer is deep?

lamb of god: a good band in all, haven't listened to all of their songs, though the ones I have don't carry religion in them or against.

faceless: all progressive, technical stuff, I hjighly recommend the autotheist movemnts 1-3, love that. kind of covers humans philosophy on gods in other words, very well written,

most of these are more heavier, corssing on death metal, idk wht u like but ive loved these bands. shame your not into instrumental, or I could give u a better list.
User avatar #116 - proudnerd (03/26/2014) [-]
Already listen to and like much of Avenged Sevenfold. Haven't listened to Dragonforce since sophmore year (I think) of high school, I might go back and look at them again. Just checked out All Shall Perish, and didn't hear any singing whatsoever in their top 5 songs on spotify so if the rest of their stuff is different, let me know. Haven't listened to Lamb of God purely because I figured with the name that they would be anti-religion. Just listened to them for a bit, and while his screaming is very good, not hearing any singing. Please redirect me to an album with singing if I'm wrong there. For Faceless, is it The Faceless, or just Faceless? I'm seeing two different bands. To clarify, I'm looking for Corey Taylor-like vocals, or David Draiman like vocals, with screaming mixed in. Sorry, I'm a bit picky, but I really appreciate the input. If you've got anything else, please let me know. Thanks.
