 I'm an English speaker that is decent in but learning Dutch, and what i have learned so far is that the best way to keep make sure to read the grammar rules before going into a duolingo lesson and to memorize those. #28 -
dislikinator (01/09/2016) [-] The best way to learn a language in the end is going there. Since you're in Germany, plan a trip for the weekend in the Netherlands. Try to speak Dutch 100% of the time and when people notice that you have 'trouble with dutch', tell them that it's only with speaking, not with listening, otherwise they'll talk English to you. If you don't think you can do this yet, just buy a dutch book and read it. I'm Dutch and I read german books. For pronounciation, watch Dutch telelvision. Just the public news (NOS Journaal), because all other Dutch language programs are either for children who can't understand english and have difficulty keeping up with subtitles (we never dub anything with 12+. Only exception was Harry Potter) and all native programs for adults are absolute cancer. If you want a good Dutch movie, watch De Lift. #54 -

Like I said before: dutch TV is absolute shit  That's quite an unusual question, usually we just learn other peoples languages if we need to communicate. Also a lot of people say Dutch is hard to learn, but since you're German you'll be alright. Why do you want to learn Dutch anyway?  Just so i can learn a few languages just... idk, maybe to have it show up on my resumee? i don't really care. Also learning spanish and japanese as well. japanese just really casually though, and spanish just as little, although i can actually speak spanish and barely any japanese. It's just for fun.
