It's not so much being uncomfortable with the presence of transsexuals as it is the idea of having sex with them or dating them. But I would agree if someone was truly bigoted against transsexuals, or any group really, education in that regard would be a good avenue to pursue (although many people who feel that way may be unwilling to and consider it "reeducation").

If you really are comfortable with them as people, why would you automatically say you won't date them, without meeting or even seeing them?

1. Yes, it is my opinion. I was a little rude, and I apologize. However, it is a reason for me not to date them.
2. I wasn't using attractiveness necessarily as an argument, more just an additional thing to tack on. I'm just repulsed by male sexuality (aside from myself) in general, and would never want to touch anything that is not me that was at any point a male.
3. But if you do want kids, conceived between you and your SO, it's still a reason.

I don't mind transgenders, but I can see how someone would be weirded out by the concept. Racism, though, is something an idiot can see through.

I mean if you want your own kids, the person in question is pre-op and you're not interested in penises or the given person hasn't transitioned well and you aren't attracted to it might qualify. Otherwise personal preference tends to make people comfortable with the idea. Me personally I wouldn't mind but I'm not sure how I feel about people who do.

Their physical attractiveness isn't going to change if you know that they are trans or not. If you don't like how they look, you probably aren't going to start dating them in the first place. Being pre- or post-op would be something for the two of you to discuss before engaging in sexual activity, of course. The issue of having kids, and how, is a discussion any couple should have, as there are many factors, not just compatible bodies. If you (or anyone, for the purpose of this discussion) are genuinely uncomfortable with the idea of transgenderism, there are many classes, support groups, etc. you can find rather than choosing to stay uncomfortable around certain people because of a birth defect they are trying to fix.

It is, though. I'm not into men, so I don't want to fuck a man who just chopped his genitals off and filled his chest with plastic. That being said, most transgenders look halfway between man and woman, so it's not exactly arousing. Also, if you want kids, that's another reason.

1) that's your opinion, though I want to say that you are being rude about it. I'm not into guys, but my gf is trans and I don't care. She is attractive to me the way she is.
2) if the girl wasn't attractive, you probably wouldn't be dating her in the first place. Your knowledge of her past wouldn't change her physical appearance.
3) Would you stop dating someone whom you loved just because they couldn't have kids? Adoption is always an option, or surrogacy. If you don't want kids anyway, it's not a problem.
