Hey, maybe you should just ask them some questions about something resent that have happened to them, like "hey, what happened yesterday, you seemed upset?" or something, because people like to talk about themself, and it will put the pressure of you, so you just have to listen. In that way, they will know that you are interested, and you can take it slow form there.

I understand what you mean about just shutting everyone out except the other people. Its a nerves thing, just something you have to practice. I had the same problem. You could stand there listening to them all and suggest something to do... like set up an xbox tournament with the game of your choice or w/e. Just keep it cool and relaxing and most of just be yourself. I know that sounds like I'm being your mom but srsly, people can tell if you are trying too hard.

Well fuck man, your friends don't sound like friends to me. The way i meet people or become socialable, is to go to a busy bar and chill get a little comfortable and start talking to people. You get the xp, DING!! LEVEL UP!!, where you can apply it to other situations. I was right there with you a couple years back, I was fucking misserable. Maybe just forget your friends and go make some new ones. Go to big social events like concerts, bars on the weekends, and conventions. Also, Fuck what anyone else says.

But.. they are cool people, and I can see some of them want to know me as well as I want to know them, but where the hell do you start. It really seems to be me that fucks those chances up, even though it's unintentional. I.E. today I had a good shot at making new friends, but I spoke out only to my good friend rather than to the whole group. It's like I placed them as acquaintances. I wish you could just tell people: "Hey, wanna be pals?" and then there's no confusion rather than this cursory method of social ethics we've created.

It's partially because of a girl, but yeah I don't think I'm clinically depressed.
The only thing I really want to do is travel... But that costs money.

They are probably the main cause of depression.
