It's ultimately not about weight. The overweight girl gets judged for not looking hot, the super hot girl gets judged for being a poser, the flat chested girl gets judged for trying too hard.
To a lot of women, it feels like the costume is being judged afterwards. This one is focusing about how larger women are judged for not being the body type of the character they want to cosplay and consequently, being made to feel inferior.

They often get verbal sexual abuse, or abuse from hardcore fans. There is a mass assumption that females within the geek community don't exist and that attractive girls at conventions are ignorant and stupid. One of the comments on this very picture, about the attractive Wonder Woman was "She probably didn't even want to go to the con, she was probably just a hired prostitute or something."

Look at all the hate 'girl gamers' get. Granted, they look like idiots when they're chewing the cable. Even on this website, which tends to have a lot of geeky content, hence why I come here, there's always the random shit of "Girls aren't on the internet, fuck off or I'll rape you" dotted around.

I've been on the bus a guy mate is talking to someone about The Walking Dead and I'm like "What you chatting about?" The response I get is somewhere along the lines "Fuck off, you won't know what we're talking about." The Walking Dead is a massive hit but just because I have ovaries, I can't watch it because it's geeky or whatever. First mild example that comes to mind but my friends have had worse. I love being part of a community that seems so accepting but then there's just the ones that ruin it for all the vaginally minded Trekies or Marvel fans.
