I don't have opinions on America "set in stone" I actually quite like most Americans that I know, I just happen to think that your dating system is unnecessarily different from the rest of the world. Your last point is yet another reason a lot of people don't like Americans; the whole "Well we're America so we have to be different in everything to show how awesome we are"

Not to burst your bubble, I don't really strut around bragging to people about how awesome my measurement system is, or how sweet the way I write down the date is. All I said was it's different, so why care so much? It's not your country. If people choose to not like Americans when we explain that our country is not like Europe and we do some things differently, then those people are retarded.

The same logic can be said about measurements and dates. I don't get why you Europeans care so much how we measure things. Russia is nowhere near the USA in terms of space exploration. The ESA has yet to get a man into space. China is still figuring out how to hook up to the ISS.

If you still don't believe me, look up the Orion project by NASA, designed to send astronauts to asteroids and eventually Mars. Also, Russia has a fraction of the funding NASA has, and the ESA still can't get the Ariane 5 rocket to carry a man into space. No one is even close to the U.S. in space.

When the topic of conversation is the date that something occurred then your dating system is pretty fucking relevant, I'd say. We care because it's fucking annoying having to figure out whether a date given is actually (for example) the 5th of July or the 7th of May. You are the only country that puts the date that way around and it's completely illogical.
Space exploration, however, is still a completely unrelated and pointless argument.

it's definitely 'evolved' from traditional English lol. A lot of words dont make sense to me after I've been watching a lot of BBC, but occasionally I do find an instance every now and then where I prefer the American word over the true English word

words like do and go annoy me becuase they should have the same ending sound and don't.

Because english is confusing, and sometimes you have to add things to make the word be able to be spelled exactly how it sounds

pretty sure icelandic has been deemed the hardest language to learn, but i'm sure english is up there too :) But it's not very hard to learn if you're coming from a language like french or spanish or greek
