Everything is explained in the study. Read it and you will see that those who never smoke weed perform better on the tests over time, while those who do, get progressively worse the older they get. There's also a correlation between the amount they smoke and the test results.

Although it's not specifically stated, I think it's safe to assume that these are ordinary people who drink alcohol socially, and some of them probably smoke tobacco too. Add weed to the equation and they get dumber, both short-term and long-term.
#488 - tombatbass (04/21/2013) [-]
I don't really think it's safe to assume anything, especially since the test never states that the subjects are getting dumber, merely worse at their specific tasks. It has been shown to make people worse at some things, but never advanced cognition- just look at Carl Sagan.

it seems they didnt test how does quitting affect the IQ, and im pretty sure there is a real diffrence between someone who is currently smoking, and a person that stopped over 6 months ago

attention problems and memory problems do exist, but they go away after being clean for a month or so (personal expirience)
i would like to know how does it affect people with higher IQ
i had 3 IQ tests and had 126,124,128 scored in that order
between the last two i was smoking weed for two years about 2 grams a month, and stopped a month before the last test
#484 - penguinthegreat (04/21/2013) [-]
so i started reading the study
IQ tests aren't 100% precise and a diffrence of under 0.5% doesnt seem significant enough for me to take seriously
ill continue reading

Here's the first result from google, It's in Thai, but they don't talk, and they demonstrate it pretty well.

just remember to push the tabs back, and then lift it up slowly as you release each tab

www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAQyCH-0JWE

You'll also see that you can't really get to the cooling from under the keyboard if you were thinking of cleaning it out with compressed air... it'd be better to remove the bottom half of the lappy to blow dust out that way. But it's always useful to know, so check it out still

there are a few empty screw holes under that keyboard, ill try to remove mine
when i removed the bottom i removed every single part i could. i think i got the HDD, RAM and network card (is that what its called?) out and i took every screw i could see out but nothing moved
and the cooling seems to be in the center of the laptop so i have to take it apart almost completly to clean it properly
also im curious

actually, that should have "been push the tabs away from the speakers". But seriously, youtube vids are the best for dismantling anything in my opinion

What "limit"? Cpu's can run pretty goddamn hot and still work perfectly fine (55 degrees c is probably the hottest I'd want a cpu running long term though)

youtube vids will help you better than I can explain it.. and I've never opened this particular lappy... but, to remove the keyboard there's 4 tabs at the top of the keyboard above esc, f5, f9 and printscreen. Press them towards the speaker and the keyboard should lift up. My eeepc had some double sided tape under the keyboard, so the k53 might have some too.

but I don't see how removing the keyboard is going to get you access to the cooling on the underside

What do you mean "get to the cooling"?

I guess you mean read the temps? Not open the laptop up.. I actually find this laptop runs very cool

If you want to read the temps, I use hwmonitor made by CPU-ID, and that tells me most info I want. (Just checked it and it doesn't show GPU temp, even if you force the program to run using the Nvidia card, there's probably just no sensor in the card)

The fan itself is controlled by the BIOS, and there's not really any need to increase it... but there might be something on the Asus site to increase/change the fanspeed if you wanted

I've been encrypting the HDD for the last 5 hours and the Fan is virtually silent, with the CPU sitting around 50 degrees c

i ment opening it up
it runs 3-4 degrees from the limit when it heats up, it didnt crash yet tho
but i just want to know how to open it up
i cant reach it from the back and i have no idea how to remove the keyboard
