Well I like playing the epic length so it takes me longer to finish games, and I always go in with a set strategy and I pick what I think is the best leader for it. For example I pick Kamekameha on archipelago maps because of him being to explore ocean right away and building moais on all the coasts. I am trying to do at least a couple different people I started my first bismarck game and I like him so far. Most of my army for much of the early to middle game was barbarians.

so how long does it take you to finish a game for me with 4 ppl on short takes about 5hrs or so usually if i play not too aggresively i found i find going for a culture win much more appealing because everyone not denouncing or declaring war on me

Well up until recently I always played on huge maps with max AI, which is 22. I'd say it takes me about a week to two weeks to beat playing several hours a day. Hard to say as some days I'll play all day and some only for an hour or two. This game I'm playing with bismarck I bumped it down to 12. Still going on almost a week now.

Overall civ 5 is better, the only gripe I have is what I've just mentioned. And damn right wonders are king, the Alhambra and Brandenburg gate all the way. Once you unlock all the training buildings you can pump out super soldiers. I just go for as many wonders as I can and try to stay as technologically advanced as possible. Usually works out for me.

Yea sounds about right. I just kind of hate how I can't have a bunch of allies and vassals like in civ 4. I never get to have the huge world war style battles. And I Know you can set teams but I hate forcing that kind of stuff. I want it to happen naturally.

Also missed making colonies. I can see why they got rid of them but it was cool being able to just make another civ. And it was a good way of getting rid of excess cities you don't need or want.
#45 - pbeldin (04/18/2016) [-]

I think nukes play a huge part. That's usually when even the civs I've been friends witth the whole game start to turn on me. They even become afraid or slowly become guarded.

I think the warmongering penalty is over done too. I've had two guys that declared war on me start to "have early concerns of my warmongering" after. On a random side note they also kept trying to demand two of my cities as a peace settlement even after I wiped out their armies without them coming close to capturing any of my cities and had started on their own.

once you start getting nukes and your military numbers are so high above someone elses they usually fear you and i think that even attacking a coity or just being in war gives you war mongering (at least if you deny a peace treaty)
and with the city thing oi think it might be if they have a higher overall score than you that im not too sure
