That guy there is a "Shinigami" if I remember correctly. It's basically a sort of death god. The "Death Note" that is used in the show is his personal Death Note that he just dropped into the human world for a laugh. This one here has a thing for apples and can be easily bribed with them. Granted I read the series a long time ago so that's what I'm going on.

Shini = Death Gami = God, Ryuk (hopefully spelling that right) and the others literally are death gods.

Actually, Kami is how you spell god, but Shinigami is spelled with a G instead of a K.

Kami = Gami in this particular case. The pronunciation changes because two words are combined. There is no word for that i could find in english, sorry bout that

I heard the movie was good too, but i dont know. Thinkng about watching it if i knew where. The anime and manga are both quite good, a kind of psychological cat and mouse chase. If you're into that kind of brainy stuff, then i can recommend it

I recommend the Manga (14 Volumes I think) because it was good. I can't recommend the Anime because I haven't watched it. I hear it's pretty good though. Also, there's some movies that came out a while ago so those might be good to have a look at to.

The "Absolute power corrupts absolutely" theme really gets pushed to some very uncomfortable levels, but the whole way through was a great trip

The anime is actually one of the rare cases there the anime is almost exactly like the manga. The ending is slightly different but aside form that its all the same.

And for pbeldin, I would definitely recommend watching the anime or reading the manga, whichever one you prefer.
