you can visit online stores and see how well or poorly you'd be. Here, you can get the price of anything in dollars by dividing with 3 (or 3.2 if the numbers big enough to have the .2 get an effect).

Exchange rates vary greatly, and the higher the amount you exchange, the bigger the difference. For example, if you came here now, you'd have 230 euros.

I decided I would divide the show into two different catogorys: Classic generations (1-5)
and New age generations (6-) (generations based on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_console)
This alien will cover the classic gen, and I'll make another one to cover new age gen.

that means you have to come up with twice as many names!
#216 to #205 - warioteam (04/15/2014) [-]
I've thought up a name for one of them: the "retro" review alien will be called Retrov #originality and i havent thought of a name for my "modern" reviewer.
User avatar #246 to #216 - payseht (04/15/2014) [-]
oh, forgot to mention I like the designs. Subtle with the controller suits and their head shapes are different enough to distinguish between the two, even if there was no coloring. Don't know if that was intentional, so I'm pointing it out. Ret-Rov is slightly more square-ish than Mod-Ren...

User avatar #236 to #217 - warioteam (04/15/2014) [-]
What do you think of this?
It certainly isn't the final part of the intro, as it is too short and there is still plenty of song left.
User avatar #237 to #236 - payseht (04/15/2014) [-]

User avatar #239 to #237 - warioteam (04/15/2014) [-]

What should I add?
User avatar #244 to #243 - payseht (04/15/2014) [-]
as intros go, it's good
The modern games intro should be different, though

thought about conflict between the two characters? You know, they keep arguing that games were better back when and that no they're better now than ever...?

On the other hand, a story might distract from the actual review, so maybe you'd want to keep that to a minimum unless you want to try out your creativity... I know I wasn't a fan of the Nerds more elaborate stories and prefer the episodes where it's kept to a minimum, but not entirely absent...
You know, use it here and there to flesh out the characters.
User avatar #245 to #244 - warioteam (04/15/2014) [-]
Thats what i intended on doing, the 8bit font doesnt fit a modern game.

And also good plan, are see if i can wrap it around like that.

Just kidding.
But what do you think it should be?
User avatar #219 to #218 - payseht (04/15/2014) [-]
I honestly have no idea, man. It's hard enough finding a name for something when it's going to be public. Have to try and avoid a lot of things, like being accused of copying (like Cosmic Critique) or plain out ridiculed (like the comic I'm reading where the superhero's name is "Invincible", which is just stupid...).
Names are important, you know. It has to be catchy, direct enough so people that see it automatically get interested if it's their thing, at least slightly original so people can find you easier when looking...
Did you try and ask the book and art board? Technically, they should be creative there...
User avatar #220 to #219 - warioteam (04/15/2014) [-]
I like to ask boards, but Art and Books is like, ALWAYS empty.
User avatar #221 to #220 - payseht (04/15/2014) [-]
Gave it a little more thought. Retrov seems kinda fine... how about you split it into two like Ret Rov. Sounds a little aliener... And the other guy could be Mod Ren.
The gf really liked Galactic Gamer, btw.
User avatar #222 to #221 - warioteam (04/15/2014) [-]
I'll probably have to make it Galactic Gamer's (plural) cuz its two.
But really man, you are an awesome help.

When are you planning to make the pilot episode and what game did you have in mind?
User avatar #228 to #227 - warioteam (04/15/2014) [-]
I found this game called Kid Niki: Radical Ninja for NES.
Im actually recording footage right now, and plan to have this episode done in 3 to 7 days, granted that I get a chance to record some voice in time.
Not many peple have heard of it, (even though this vid has quite some views)
I think it will be a good one to start off the Ret Rov half.
User avatar #230 to #228 - payseht (04/15/2014) [-]
"Our understanding was that Earth's space exploration program was at an infant stage, yet this human seems to be launching his kind into orbit with ease"
So, what's the format? Playthrough, highlights, or typical review? Will you do it in character? Any story whatsoever? You know... like how aliens are getting shows from the 50s because of us dumping radio signals into space...
User avatar #231 to #230 - warioteam (04/15/2014) [-]
It will follow similar reviews, specifically avgn, WHO IS MUH FAV
But without the incoherant rage, cuz then somethin will seem ***** .
It will be done in character, with filters too make it sound more alien-y, and rather than be recorded whilst, it will be done afterword, using a script.
User avatar #232 to #231 - payseht (04/15/2014) [-]
How long will the videos be?
Any defining trait that makes you stand out, like the nerd's cussing and anger issues?
User avatar #233 to #232 - warioteam (04/15/2014) [-]
At least 10 mins, that seems to be the bare minimum.
Other than that, I havent really thought about it.
But you are right, I should have something that differentiates me, other than the subject of review.
User avatar #234 to #233 - payseht (04/15/2014) [-]
Think of personalities. They are characters after all... and how they're different from each other... like the modern one could be like a frat bro and the retro one a nerd... or simething, I don#t know
User avatar #235 to #234 - warioteam (04/15/2014) [-]
Makes sense, I'll make the modern one have a "younger" voice because modern=new, obviously.

User avatar #207 to #205 - warioteam (04/15/2014) [-]
I figure it will be easier once i have the general review formula planned out and I know where I am going with this.
BTW, on a scale from 1-10, how much are you willing to get involved with this show?
Because its currently a one-man-band and I think with more people to help me out, it might evolve and get better quicker.
User avatar #209 to #207 - payseht (04/15/2014) [-]
also, I'm not a gamer... never owned a console, haven't played any game in months, even years if you don't count on and off playing. Everything I know is thanks to the internet...
User avatar #211 to #209 - warioteam (04/15/2014) [-]
I decided a while back that putting people to one par to one part of the project can be difficult without previous director skills, so i just need a couple guys to help around GENERALLY, rather than allocating multiple people to different pieces.

And dont worry, I'll be doing most of the voicework, with the help of filters and audio editing.

Trust me, you have been a ******* of help, I probably would have abandoned this by now if it weren't for you. (Yep, thats me. No one helps the first few minutes? **** it, I'll go cry in the shower.)

What are yours?
User avatar #185 to #184 - payseht (01/14/2014) [-]
None, really. I've been having a hard time enjoying something enough to get into. Comic books, maybe. What type of games do you enjoy?
User avatar #186 to #185 - zaiopeperse (01/14/2014) [-]
I mostly play platformers, puzzle games, fps' and rpg's but recently my friend introduced me to a rhythm game called "Osu!" that I've come to enjoy (though at first I noped all over the place)

Comic books are cool, which ones do you like? (Or are you saying that you're going to give them a shot, I'm noticing that I can't really brain this morning)
User avatar #187 to #186 - payseht (01/14/2014) [-]
If you know any good games for mobile, don't hesitate to share. Those are the only ones that can captivate my attention span long enough to actually enjoy these days. And Super Meat Boy...
I only read DC, like Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, The Flash, and such. I've tried Marvel but it's just... no... really not my taste. I also prefer DC to Marvel when it comes to movies and TV, so I guess I'm a fanboy... got a few t-shirts... it's slowly becoming an obsession since I've always wanted to read comics but never had access to them here until the Internet. I'm from Romania, btw. Where are you from (something I could check your profile for, but maybe this will spark a conversation!)?
User avatar #188 to #187 - zaiopeperse (01/14/2014) [-]
I've heard something about Osu! being for mobile, I haven't tried it myself but the pc version is really great.

There's also guardian cross by Square which is down today (I have a code that if you would be so kind as to use if you register then I would owe you forever for, I think it gives you a god creature and I know it gets me one step closer to the next one so that'd be awesome) ((note: only if you actually want to, it's a trading card game with a creature hunting minigame and automatic fights))

DC are cool (Personally, I've always found superman to be overrated but I've never actually read any of his comics or seen any of his films (esxcept the original old one and a couple of smallville episodes) Also, where do you read the comics? I've always wanted to be more of a comic reader but never found anything worh checkng out online except a couple of good webcomics

I'm from Norway (I think I've set my profile to friends-only so I don't think you would have been able to check it =P )

I had no idea the release date was so close. Thanks for the reminder.

I'm going to wait a little after the release, a review or two later, before deciding.

No problem.

By the way, I was born (and still live) in Germany, but my parents are from Romania (From the German part of it, "Siebenbürgen" or Transylvania, as it is more commonly known as), from Sigisoara to be precise. They say that Germany is a much better place to live in though, but from what you described living in Romania sounded quite enjoyable. On the other hand, when they left Romania ot was still under Ceausescu's dictatorship, so that might have something to do with that...
Oh well I'm rambling, sorry bout that, I'm just really interested in everything that has something to do with Romania, and you're the first person i "met" on the Internet that's from (or lives in) Romania and speaks eloquent English, which leads me to the question that is actually the reason for this wall of text:
Are you originally from Romania or did you immigrate? If so, where from?
Anyways, sorry about this long post, I'll stahp now.

feel free to ramble, I love it

I've been born here. Oradea, part of old Transylvania, N-W Romania, where the border with Hungary is. We have indeed been through some dark times because of Ceauşescu. At first he was a decent leader, but he visited Chine (I believe) and saw how people treated their dictator (like a god) and wanted in on some of the action. He did terrible things, politically, economically, and morally, but at the end of the day he got out of a huge depth with other countries. I must admit I haven't been interested in history, neither national or international, so I'm not the perfect person to talk to about this. Neither am I the best person to talk about current going ons here since I've had nothing but good luck thus far. Never had any problems with anybody, and the strangers I've encountered have been nothing but friendly, although dull as mud. I've had one phone and my wallet with all my money in it returned at different points in my life, I see little to no garbage on the streets, and things have been nothing but decent and above, at least for me. If you ask anybody else, they surely will complain. I guess I've just been extremely lucky, so don't take my word on how things truly are around here. Considering a vast amount of people are moving or working abroad, my guess is that it's worse for most people.
How are things in Germany?

Oh damn it i had written a super long post and was just about to finish it and accidentally hit the side button on my mouse, which makes the browser go back by 1 in its history and made me lose all of what i had written.
Now I'm too lazy to rewrite all of it, but I'll try to quickly summarize what i wrote:
Life is pretty good, people differ greatly from each other, you can meet all kinds of people here, both from the good and the bad side, probably partially because there are a lot of immigrants and cultures meet and merge; Religiousness is pretty low compared to other countries, I believe, at least among the people I hang out with; Most people i know are atheists.
As for me, I am 22 and had a pretty easy and sheltered life so far, no big life-changing events; I will graduate from my computer science school in September and start working as a web developer in November ("I'll start my own FunnyJunk, with blackjack and hookers!").
I ended my previously written post with the words "I'm actually in the middle of finals right now, and should probably get back to studying", which is exactly what I'll do now, because my next test is tomorrow

l am also 22 and intend on studying computer science. I dropped out of two colleges because I did what my parents nagged me to do (i.e. try and become an engineer) and hated it too much to go on. Hope now that I'll try and do what I'm good at and enjoy I won't fail.

The similarities between us are actually quite astounding. From my own experience i can tell you that if you are actually interested in what you are being taught, its surprisingly easy to remember it; I was pretty bad in school because i simpy didnt care about it, i barely made my graduation (Though it's the highest of 3 different... 'tiers' of education of which you (or rather, your parents) have to pick one after elementary), and now I'm a I would say slightly above-average student. I'm really good in the subjects I'm intereseted in (like Web Design, Programming, Operating Systems and such) and still suck in things i don't care about (like Project Management, Economics...). So don't worry, everything will turn out just fine, you'll see

I've had nothing but 9s and 10s in computer sciences in high school and above average grades in biology and physics, plus... uhm... native language? Where we study books and grammar, and basically culture. Poor student besides that. Nothing but bad grades because I didn't care for them. Everything else was just dull... also excelled in religion, which was (don't think it is anymore) mandatory back in the day.

You had computer science in high school? Lucky you, I didnt even have that, i just had the standard stuff, Maths, English, French, German (what your 'native language' is), Chemistry, Biology and so on. The only things i was good in was English and Maths, everything else was pretty much a disaster.
Chemistry, for exmaple. My last 4 grades in it were 5, 4, 1 ,1. The best grade would have been 15...

Programming. Basically 4 years of C++, HTML, and other similar stuff I can't remember because it's been 3-ish years since then.

I'm a pianist, but i sucked at music in school too, because it was 80% music history (as in when did Mozart start to compose this and that, what were his influences bla bla bla)

boring crap
That's my problem with the education system as a whole. It focuses on useless data instead of how to actually do things, and apply them in real life. I have not used one ounce of information from my 12 years of schooling, plus kindergarten in my entire life. I learned English by watching TV and reading comics, the required math at work, history I've never needed (I know, you need to know your past or be forsaken to repeat it, but ffs just use some common sense and you're there...), chemistry I've looked up and easily found what I needed at any given time... yeah, in short I hate the educational system. I've learned more at work in a year than I did throughout my student life.

I couldn't agree more. I learned how to interpret poems, but noone told me how insurances work, what kind of paperwork i need to do to get a car and how to do it, how to act during a job interview, etc. So much wasted time...

Life only gets better after you're done wasting your time (i.e. school in general). I've never been happier than the past two years when I worked and learned how to do my job properly, instead of "learning" behind a desk, listening to a list of information that will be forgotten come next exam. I actually feel like I'm doing something with my life.
