This is my only time voting; I probably won't after this unless a president gives me a good impression.

Also, even with both parts if congress belonging to Democrats, it was still hard for them to push stuff through because of filibustering (I believe that is the right tern). Basically, the minority party can postpone voting on bills indefinitely by continuing the debate with speeches and such. Literally they can get on the podium and talk about their multiple mistresses until it's time to go home and do it again the next day for as long as they feel like.

A lot of presidents wait until their second term to really do anything because their second term will be their last anyway so they don't have to worry about re-election. A lot of them (well, the newer ones) have really wishy washy first terms that accomplish nothing.

We can't have a four year buffer between effective presidents can we? Here comes another lynch mob

I'm not saying it's ideal, I'm just saying that is how modern politics are. I do not know why they bother doing it like that when either way they end up with only one effective term.
